So he admitted he's not successful then, by his own measure?

It all depends on the rights. DAZN currently have a budget in the billions to buy key content in growth markets. If they feel there are rights worth paying for to grow a region they will jump in. UK sports rights are tied up for the foreseeable so they will likely move some of the budget into other territories. If the rights become available they will re enter. The UFC rights are the only major rights available in the next 12 months. They will crank up the UK again around the next set of premier league rights package in 2025. It’s up ti Hearn in the meantime to keep the subscriber base sustainable. There’s a reason Australia is a key market this year and matchroom are launching.

it wouldn’t surprise me however if they blow some serious money on AJ in the UK if he beat Usyk and AJ goes fight by fight

This. There is a no sports rights in the UK which will move the needle.

The UK launch didn't go as planned with the epl rights not going to tender and now are basically just a boxing platform. Question is can they maintain a subscriber base with just boxing as growth is out of tie question for the now.

Which major rights? I know they have international football but that's not until 2024.

Up until Viaplay's launch in the second half of 2022, more sports rights will be announced. I do not know exactly what rights they are pursuing, but more is on the way.

The channel is funded by dirty Russian Oligarch money, but let's just conveniently ignore that fact.

Anyone associated with DAZN should hang their heads in shame.

Yeah I get that but won't they be in the same position as DAZN where the rights they have appeal to a niche audience rather than one which can grow?

There are only a few sports which have the ability to move the needle when it comes to subscriptions.

It's very difficult for any new player to disrupt the market when the major sports rights are not avaliable.

That's right, but I do not think you need to worry. Viaplay Group, as the company is now called, went on air with their first tv channel on December 31, 1987, so it is a company that goes back many years and has an extremely good reputation. Often companies have chosen to sell their rights to Viaplay Group if they have received equal offers from different companies.

It really isn’t. And the notion that the money markets would have allowed Corbyn to voluntarily do the kind of things that Covid and energy prices have forced on the present Government, is a nonsense. Conflating the last 2/3 years of Tory governance to Russian donor money is an even bigger one. They’ve been incompetent regardless of who finds them.

Corbyn wasn't proposing such actions. Basic things such as bringing corporation tax in line with the other countries was a given and you know not stripping the poorest of society of there measly benefits was certainly not forced on the tories.

Neither was a decade of austerity and wages not moving forced on the tories yet still after covid and the High cost of living crisis but still they don't go far enough in support.

The money markets would as usual moan and decry anything socialist but as per usual want socialism when it comes to the state cleaning up there balance sheets.

They love the mantra of "let the markets decide" yet when things get rough the state must step in.

Socialise the debts and privatise the profits.

2/3 years? Its been over a decade.

    As for Russian dirty money:
New analysis from Transparency International UK has identified at least £1.5 billion worth of UK property owned by Russians accused of financial crime or with links to the Kremlin. Most of this property is held by secretive offshore companies. The true figure for illicit wealth invested in the UK is likely to be far higher, with almost 90,000 properties across the country owned by opaque companies which prevent the British Government, law enforcement and the public from knowing who truly owns them.
