The question should be, can Mayweather pull off the same scam again? This fight was a mismatch and it was not a showcase of boxing skills. Even suckers eventually wise up to a scam, therefore a rematch is out of the question.

Tank also has some sort of mandate to fight the winner of Haney—Kambosos. I imagine that’s what he’ll be doing in 6 months.

I hope so but I won't be holding my breath. If Haney wins he'll have had a pretty damn straightforward path to undisputed. It won't feel undisputed at all unless he fights Loma/Tank. Kambosos, if he wins, will have beaten the man who beat Loma so he has a bit more legitimacy there. As shitty as that robbery was and as much as I dislike Romero he did grow from that fight and I don't think Mariñez would best him now. We can only hope. The fact that he didn't build his way up the right way was made clear last night. He won a bunch of rounds but he never had a chance and I have no interest in a rematch unless he shows a much higher level, the kind of improvement that takes 3-4 years.
