Besides Usyk and Joshua, what are the best fights Fury could take to legitimize his legacy?

    What could Fury do to elevate his status as the champion at this time? Everyone knows the standard argument against Fury's legitimacy, his knockdown at the hands of Steve Cunningham, his win over because Wlad was old, Wilder just sucks, and other things like this.

    He has a horrifically boring resume in my opinion. If I want to watch an exciting fighter... Fury hardly ever comes to mind. He's boring- with an exception. Wilder, who I think is the best name on Fury's resume.

    The Wilder trilogy is as good as gets with Fury, and it is genuinely good IMO! And I am unapologetic to rate it one of my favorite Heavyweight trilogies of all time. All three fights are exciting to me as the impending sense of doom that a single punch from either fighter will change the course of the fight. Wilder doesn't have an exceptionally strong chin or good recovery but has a monstrous punch and the opposite is true for Fury. Both fighters showed tremendous heart. All three bouts had amazing highlights and notable moments, Fury's revival, the draw, Wilder's cheating accusations, how the 40 pound costume tired Wilder out on his ring walk, Wilder's ear drum bursting and Tyson Fury's consequential vampirism, the horsehair conspiracies, the back and forth knock downs, Wilder landing flush on Fury's forehead and sending a shock wave throughout his flabby body, asking yourself "how the hell did Fury just get up?!" and "how the hell did Wilder just get up?!", Wilder knocked out in the 11th. I would pay for a forth and fifth fight genuinely. As stupid as it may seem, at least I know if Fury and Wilder fight it is money well spent and I'll have fun watching it regardless.

    This I think is the best testament to Fury's career and legitimacy. Wilder is not a good fighter but he is a DEFCON 1 sort of dangerous. Fury's survival and conquering of him I think is extremely notable, and I think Wilder's account of himself during his fights with Fury, was a peak / prime Wilder.

    I guess Ruiz, as Joshua owes him a rubber match.

    Joyce was a good shout in terms of quality.

    Parker sort of...he is a former titleist who is on a win streak, although, truth be told, he is 1-1 against Derrick Chisora. He won't fight Parker anyway. Combine all of that with the fact that no one would want to see the fight, and this is a distant third choice.

    Really, due to the fact that the promotors have not brought up the young guys properly, things are thin out there, which is why I believe that he is genuinely considering retirement.

    POST SCRIPT: OP, not sure I get your point of view. His resume is thin, but he should sup it up by fighting Wilder a fourth and fifth time? When 95% of the boxing community thinks he really won all three?

    Uysk or AJ, then Joyce. Very nice resume. The next era is lagging too far behind to be a legitimate scalp.

    Joyce, Sanchez,Hrgovic, Ruiz

    Id say Parker but he'd be too busy carrying Fury's bags

    He don't need all that. They should be fighting each other, apart from Joyce who deserves a tile shot. The others will beat each other.

    I don't think Hrgovic gets a chance at the current too guys, he's getting frozen out.

    Need?, no, you are absolutely correct

    But it would build his record massively if they were amongst AJ and Usyk

    Yeh your right, I don't see Fury doing a Klitchko 10 year domination. The Beer and kebabs have a way of catching up with you. I know....

    Besides Usyk and Joshua? Hmm, hard act to follow. Joyce would be a good scalp, and maybe Makhmudov if he continues to plough through his opponents.

    Realistically Usyk should be enough. If he can beat him (no guarantee there) he goes down as one of the greats.

    I think Parker looks the best to future Boxrec readers, unless he wants to bet on one of these prospects being the one to take over the division.

    Joyce and Zhang,
    Both Olympic medalists;
    Both undefeated;
    Both older than Fury.

    Joyce for sure. I think he is in his prime(despite the age) and with stamina and consistency, Joyce will give him hell.
