If Golovkin beats Canelo and becomes the undisputed champion at 168 and then retires. What legacy will he leave?

it will take a beating him by KO.
Best one since Juan Manuel Márquez possibly better.

he will be rated as highest MW ever
right next to Hagler, with people debating even more feverishly then they do now from now until eternity…

I dunno if it really does much for me, maybe to the masses it will register in some great way. I'll always have the question in the back of my mind why he refused to accept any challenges in his career aside from the Canelo fight.

If Clenelo loses for a 3rd time to the geriatric then it’ll just prove once and for all how overrated he is.

Can you give specific examples of challenges he refused?

For my part, I already think of placing Golovkin in the top 40 of the best boxers in history. As a reminder, The Ring had placed him 63rd before Murata.

This fight would give him a big boost and I think he would go top 15-20.

Add in 22 title defenses ( 20 KO'S). 20 consecutive defenses 18 by KO, tieing Hopkins record but running circle's around him in the KO department.

If GGG stops Canelo at 40 years old to become Undisputed at SMW while being a Unified Champ at Middleweight, he's sure to be Fighter of the Year and arguably the GOAT. If he wins a decision he's probably Fighter of the Year and surely would have cemented himself as an ATG to achieve Undisputed at 40.

He has 16 title defenses, 14 consecutive. WBA (regular) defenses are not real. Mostly defended against low level fighters and over the hill fighters. Hopkins has a much better resume
