Lets put it this way: I am not here to tak anything away from Ali, he is my Nr. 1 candidate for being the HW GOAT, but i think Louis indeed has a good argument too since you cant say the 5 guys i mentonioned are some nobodies or their words mean nothing.

I dont have a like to Kaplan, but here are the others:

    Sugar:

    Atlas:

    Foreman:

    Frazier:
    https://quotefancy.com/quote/101708...weight-champion-of-all-time-Rocky-Marciano-is

Nobody is abosolute unanimously the GOAT in anything. Even Michael Jordan came to 73% while 27% voted for LeBron James in a 1-1 comparation.
Unanimously would mean 100 people vote and 100 people vote the same.

But so or so i personally think the guys from ESPN are little bit too much in love with Ali and Jordan. Putting Ali as the Nr. 2 pound for pound all time only second to Robinson is a little to much to me.

Well I know Joe Louis wouldn’t have struggled with the likes of Ken Norton or Joe Frazier. He’d have clubbed them out in under 10.

BTW., many years ago I posted a bit on the German website: Sportforen. @Drago, I think you know which one I mean. I recently checked out my top 10 HW list from 2007 there.

    1 Joe Louis
    2 Muhammad Ali
    3 Larry Holmes
    4 Jack Johnson
    5 Lennox Lewis
    6 Mike Tyson
    7 Rocky Marciano
    8 Evander Holyfield
    9 George Foreman
    10 Gene Tunney

Nowadays I have Ali No. 1. But anyway, I think it's interchangeable.

    Cool man, thats great! :D

Of course yes, i am the same Drago.

To me overall, that means total package inside and outside the ring, nobody can suprass Ali, not even Robinson. Inside the ring i cant rank Ali p4p nr. 1 or 2, but to me he is also the leading candidate for being the Heavyweight GOAT.

But i find it interesting that not just two of his main rivals (Foreman and Frazier), but also two historians (Kaplan and Sugar) rank Louis as Nr. 1 HW ever.
I mean of course we know Joe and Muhammad hated each other for a long time, and i really hope so much!!! that they had peace with each other before Frazier died! But i dont know, some people say the did make peace, others still say Joe never forgave Ali for what he did in 1975, calling him Uncle Tom and his own children were mobbed and spit in school.

But Foreman and him never had personal problems, and also Kaplan, Sugar and Atlas ever speak very high about Ali. So its a very strong point for Louis that these 5 guys rank him as HW GOAT.
ESPN votes Ali again and again and again as the HW GOAT, but like i said they are imo too much in love with him.
For some people today its almost like lese-majesty not to rank Ali as Nr. 1.
This guy here is a prove fot that:

Oh man the good Sportforen...the best German Boxing forum ever! But as much i was happy when AJ beat Wlad in 2017, a buddy of mine who is a Klitschko fan said to me i am stupid to support AJ. His opinion on AJ was never very high, he thought alredy 5 years ago he is totally overrated and not even close to Fury, Usyk or maybe even Wilder, and when the 41 yrs old Wlad lost to him my buddy said this quote the day after the fight when we wrote E-Mail:

"YOu are so dumb to be happy about Wlads loss! In his prime he would have killed AJ and wrecked him into little peaces with his jab and right hand. Now Boxing will die out in Germany. The Klitschko s were the last guys who kept it in German TV (RTL). Boxing in German free TV will die out now, wait the next 2-3 years."

And he was right. I miss these days so much Saturday evening ARD, ZDF, or even RTL with Kai Ebel (who get under my nerves so much) and this Kltischko propaganda, but it was much better as today.
The BILD Zeitung is so lowsy when the show Boxing. Cool for them got get Tobi Drews as commentator, but when Felix Sturm is fighting it looks like some C class amateur promotion.

BTW Sturm said a couple weeks ago he wants a rematch with Oscar de la Hoya. :-D
Do you think the alcoholic Oscars would say yes if there is enough money? But i am sure Sturm hasnt enough money, he must go to jail later on, i dont know when exactly.

Gotta go with @George Crowcroft on this one. Although I would pick Louis to eventually win, it would be a merciless hill to climb. There is nothing simple about this task unless you're watching clips of a washed up Frazier. I never liked Frazier growing up. I was always an Ali man. But I do respect his smoke.

I'm a huge Louis fan, but Frazier would be a handful for him. I favor Louis still, but it wouldn't be easy.

I don't think anyone on this board disputes that Louis has a good argument. His prime run was amazing and even during his post prime championship reign he ko'd three consecutive nr. 1 contenders (Conn's was perhaps nr. 1 on old merits, though). Before he had to come back because of financial reasons he was 26-0 in title fights, had beaten everyone of substance for a decade and a half and only had one loss and only one win that was controversial, and that he followed up with a KO.

It would be crazy if you couldn't make a good argument for someone like that to be the GOAT in his weight class.

Well, lets put it this way: I wish they gonna be able to bring Boxing back in regular german TV. In the past 2-3 years i am getting more and more annoyed to look out for streams, Youtube etc. to see live events. Sure many ppl have DAZN but i dont.

About 18 years ago in 2004 ive found the Klitschko forum, i didnt know Sportforen until 2006. The Kltischko forum was a great place with great discussions, and back in the day there was a rivalry between Universum and Sauerland, like today Warren and Hearn in England.
I personally thought Universum was bigger then Sauerland from the late 90s until the Klitschko s left in 2004. The Tiger Darek of course was a crowd magnet and i loved his fights, Sauerland had the boring Ottke, who was of course very effective but boring.

The time between Maske s retirment in 1996 until the Klitschko s werent a problem since the Tiger was already there. But now there is really a hole.
Sure MDR with Steinford was always there. But he hasnt the fighters like Kohl and Sauerland had back in the day. Schwarz and Bösel underlined that.

I cant answer properly right now what i think of them, since i dont know if the current people there are as good as Klaus-Peter Kohl and his crew were in the late 90s early 00s.
So or so i hope so much they are as good and make Boxing great again in Germany and bring it back to the free TV.

Sure thats correct. But like this guy in the video above just underlines many fanatics gonna attack (call you deluded or crazy) you when you put Louis as Nr. 1 and not Ali.

Ok. I don't follow discussion on Youtube, or really any other place than this forum. But anyone who knows **** about boxing can't really deny Louis's greatness.
