Does anyone else miss Adam Smiths commentary on matchroom fights?

Adam Smith was dreadful. The DAZN commentary is so much better.

 

Costello is so drab mate

 

I miss Watt, Darke and McCrory - levels above the current shyte commentating on fights.

 

I thought Adam Smith, Macklin and Paulie were such a misfit they actually worked. Smith losing his head, Paulie’s wise words and Macklin just blurting out any old crap ‘legs are shaky Adam’.

BT are decent.

DAZN are awful and the fact they have Bellew and Benn - the 2 most unlikeable people in boxing - on punditry most weeks make it even worse.

 

Always pleased when Pepe and Pedro from DAZN Espanya are commentating - they can talk as much shyte as they like.

 

Owt’s better than Costello talking like he’s commentating on the 14.10 at Newmarket Races.

 

I really miss Ian Darke. Within the last 30 years he is by far the best boxing commentator we´ve had in the U.K. There is no one above no one below and no one beside. Ian Darke is clearly No. 1 though I have to admit I like Adam Smith.

DAZN's boxing commentators are so embarrassing it can hardly be described in words.

 

Smith is the worst commentator ever. Nothing but cringey cliches. Ruined every boxer's entrance with his mundane unnecessary waffle. Even the old HBO team had the sense to stfu during an entrance.

However he was always a very good interviewer going back to the 90s imo. Not the type to **** himself and lose composure.

 

I miss him during the exciting moments of a fight when he would lose his **** completely - AJ/Ruiz 1 was immense. Costello is a bit monotone for my liking but at least he's talking about the fight, Smith was too much backstory/anecdotal

 

I miss Jim Lampley, Roy Jones Jr, and George Foreman.

 

It's weird how everyone's opinion on here about Costello has done 360 since he been with DAZN ( the signing at the time was evenly heavily praise by the anti Matchroom brigade on here).

He's clearly a millions times better than the likes Smith, Froch and Nelson.

 

I liked Watt a lot, Darke was decent but McCory just rambled nonsense .

I only miss him if I'm not sure what any of the boxers' tattoos mean or don't mean.
