For years people have called him a paper / email champion and was constantly derided for his style. Haney made a huge statement and proved that he’s arguably the top fighter of 135. Beat the man in his hometown with his title on the line. I’m not a Haney fan but I do respect him as a fighter. He has to be acknowledged as THE undisputed fighter of 135 and should be on the P4P list now.
The best bit about this is NO MORE EMAIL CHAMP haha. If the best anyone can say is boring champ because he shows skills and makes his opponents look silly then I am fine with that.
Getting 1 belt via email and the other 3 from Kambosos is the easiest route to undisputed there’s been.
He is very skillful and fights well within the confines of his limitations. But I sure don't have any great desire to see him fight again.
Cruz would get schooled 10-2. Tank would drop Haney but lose a clear decision. Lomachenko beats Haney. Might even stop him. Haney doesn't have the power to keep him honest.
Lots of Toughman fans posting on the forum tonight. I get that Haney may not be the most exciting, but he also doesn't run. He fought much more aggressively than Fulton did tonight, for example.
Cruz is a little dangerous for Haney though because if he clips him it could spell danger. Stylistically a worse fight for Haney than Kambo.
He does. He became the undisputed champion on the road at an age where most fighters are prospects. Might be the youngest undisputed champion since multiple belts became a thing. Lomachenko and Shakur Stevenson are the only ones who I might favour over Haney at 135 and below. But we need to see Shakur at 135 to comment on it and Loma is literally going through war as well as getting up there in age, so we have no idea how he’ll look when/if he comes back.
Cruz is too wild swinging. He can apply the pressure to trouble Haney but Haney is too slippery for someone like him. He was 50/50 with a one handed Tank
