I Cleary indicated that MMA is stealing from the sport of boxing ! Imagine how many pugilists would be around if there was no such thing as MMA, just food for thought, like the saying: where are all the good hws from America? Answer, they're all posted up in the paint or on the grid iron...just imagine if all those BJJ players especially from Brazil, the Gracie's were boxers lol? It's either that or a karate, judo, fencing, arnes player, you get what I mean?
Well, that's martial arts, boxing isn't exactly the only martial art, I'd say American Football is a better example for American heavyweight talents not boxing
Most MMA fighters start off with a marrtial arts background, they don`t start off in martial arts like BJJ or kickboxing intending to fight in the MMA, very few boxers switch to MMA and most MMA fighters have poor boxing skills.
Well, I exactly know what you mean. But remember MMA is mixed martial arts. It had so many martial arts like boxing. But there are few MMA fighters who switch to boxing. Many BJJ, kickboxing, and others switch to MMA. No doubt boxing is declining because of MMA and BJJ which is more than stealing.
Boxing isnt the only combat sport in the world lol. Even without MMA being a factor theres still kickboxing, muay thai, various forms of grappling etc getting a share of the potential fighting talent pool. In fact between freestyle, folkstyle and greco roman there might actually be more wrestlers than boxers out there.
I don't see it stealing from boxing. Plus, MMA is a term rather, as there were and are plenty of federations with different rules, so could be in favor of a specific sport (like UFC rules do for the BJJ because of one of its founders). Plus, boxing generates way more money, so no boxer goes into MMA fights, but you can see a lot of the other cases.
