Apologies for the inflammatory title. Naoya Inoue has gained much hatred from Filipino fans due to his beatdowns of multiple Filipino fan favorites. Besides his shakedown of Donaire, Inoue slugged Philippines champion Jerson Mancio for a fifth round TKO, stopped IBO champion/mandatory challenger Michael Dasmarinas in 3 and KOd Warlito Parrenas in the 3nd. This puts Inoue at 4-0 vs Filipinos, soon to be 5-0. Many Filipinos hoped Casimero would pull off a miracle punch and end the Japanese's massacre. The highly anticipated unification was made, but Casimero pulled out of the fight citing monetary concerns (despite being offered a career high pay day) and then lost his belt, seemingly ending all hopes for Inoue to fight another Pinoy at the highest level. Yet, there is another. Filipino Mark Magsayo shocked the world in January of 2022 to lift the 126 pound WBC title from an injured Gary Russell Jr. In just a couple of years, assuming Magsayo holds onto the title, this fight seems obvious. How do you see it playing out?
Magsayo punches hard but he doesn’t really have skills. If Inoue moves up and gets accustomed to 126, I’d expect him to KO Magsayo.
Rey Vargas will beat the **** out of the ordinary Magsayo next . Inoue and Magsayo will never happen.
On the contrary as a Filipino myself Inoue is one of my favorite active fighters. I absolutely love the Monster. I just can't see any other current Filipino fighters beating him. Donaire is the only one who has a shot but even then he's too old.
I never understood why some Filipinos run with that. Such a corny insult from an average fighter. Most Filipinos I know respect Inoue way more than Casimero.
Donaire has been the older fighter in every match up he been in since 2015. Against Frampton, Magdaleno, Juarez. So they say he a bigger dude. Yeah, but he old for 118. So you gotta take all into consideration. Not nit pick one thing.
