Premature coronation: might it be that *none* of the lightweight "four kings" end up HOF worthy?

A little over half a year since I made this, and it feels like we have gone through yet another dizzying spin on that "Turkish Twist" rotor ride they used to have at amusement parks and carnivals (could be they still do, in some parts?) - wondering whether anybody is having buyer's remorse on whichever horse they backed back then.

Since then, López hasn't fought; Kingry took a wide decision over Emmanuel Tagoe; Davis outpointed Cruz and then stopped Romero last week; and of course Haney beat Jo-Jo in December and then dethroned Kambosos this past weekend to become undisputed.

I withheld naming any of them potential greats in the long run then, on the grounds that more data was needed on Kingry and Haney - and stand by that now. Haney is charting a credible and steady course but goddamn is he less fun to follow. He could at this rate wind up carving out a HOF career in very boring fashion with a litany of jab-and-grab performances like the other night. Kingry could soar higher if he dares to be great and doesn't pull an Icarus and prove to have some well-hidden chin deficiency or something, but the jury is still out as far as both of their absolute ceilings.

I remain unremittant on having given up on TL and GD. Takeover peaked against Lomachenko, and Tank is going to eventually - along with his jock riders - have a very rude awakening. Whether that comes in the form of The Dream outboxing him, Kingry outgunning him, or somebody else doing the honors (if he winds up eating himself past lightweight, the field opens up a mile wide IMO) ...it'll come. You just wait.

 

Is...that sarcasm or genuine? I legit have no idea.

 

You would have to ask the people who started calling these kids the four kings a couple of years ago. This isn't "my" list.

 

Tank knocks out little and/or old and/or light-hitting mother****ers, mostly.

Kingry is none of those.

 

Cool so besides Cruz who did Tank face again that wasn't at a size and age disadvantage and/or a feather fist at the contested weight?
