In essence what the OP is asking is to list some of boxing's upsets ie when a guy loses to someone he is expected to beat.

With respect, a more interesting question was posed in a thread by the same poster - take a bow @sas6789 - where he asked for examples where guys had a superior fighter's number. Someone gave the terrific examples of Junior Jones over Barrera, Forest over Mosley, Malinga over Benn (although I would argue that Nigel's advancing age and the trauma of the McClellan fight had as much to do with that as anything Sugar Boy did) and Norton over Ali.

It's been good to remember some of boxing's great shocks and turn ups but I would recommend anyone thinking of posting here to have a quick look at this thread, in case their response is better suited there, instead.

Eddie if you don't me quoting you on a comment you made, regarding Benn vs Malinga. You are indeed correct that Benn was past it in the rematch vs Malinga, as the wars had caught up with him, especially the one vs McClellan.

But if I could point out in their 1st meeting, which Benn was more or less at his peak. Benn received a very dodgy decision, that I don't think many people who watched it. Thought Benn actually deserved the nod in that one, I myself had Malinga winning that one by 2 points I believe ?

So I would tend to come to the conclusion, that Malinga did indeed have Benn's number.

 

Malinga was robbed blind in the first fight when Benn prime.

You are 100% right DP. I remembered the Malinga fights both being in 96. No, Nigel was bang in prime or the first one, as you rightly say. So it's a great example, as given by @Mod-Mania .
