Tackle something easier like peace in the middle east. There's no fixing boxing because it ain't broke. It's exactly how it's supposed to be.
I'd say we should tackle it by prominent figures launching a campaign against it, but somehow that just gets fools fired aka too real for the network. We've seen this in teddy atlas and Paul Malignaggi. It will never be fixed until we get a "national commission" aka a league and a president for something like "WBL" world boxing league, because sometimes a dictator isn't a bad thing if he keeps it 100. But honestly who would be forthcoming enough to fill this gap? It starts with being extremely wealthy, and also having political ties later down the checklist. Last I heard senator John McCain may he rest in peace, was sought after for being that guy. What provented it? Probably you don't say, politics?.
Corruption is bigger than boxing. It'll always be there to some extent. So it's really a case of how can we make it better. More independence of the officials from the promotors would be a big one. We probably need the broadcasters and journalists to stop going along with the nonsense of sanctioning bodies. Will it happen? Probably nope.
It has been the case as long as I watch boxing, it has been long before I was born and it probably will be after I die. Some countries, promoters, officials, organisations and boxers benefit greatly from it, so it won't be fixed as long as politics and justice departements don’t get involved. Or as long as enough fed up people stop opening their wallets for these people, which of course never happens. Fighters have to be significantly better as their featured opponents to hope for a decision, or sometimes even to hope not to get disqualified after knocking their opponent out. Don't land the finishing blow at the bell or behind the ear, or you're toast.
It's a capitalist driven sport, so it's impossible to remove with the amount of money in play. The US and UK being the key commercially obsessed havens doesn't help. There's always bias in sport but you can see these ex-commie boxers were shocked by the level of corruption in the pro ranks in the 'land of the free'. There is a way to minimise it and that is to remove judging, which is where a lot (but not all) of the rigging type corruption happens. If every fight goes to stoppage, you could get some refs doing early stoppages and such, but it makes it all much harder. Eventually someone has to fold, either by concussion or corner throwing in towel, so a clear result will always be there. Even if it took four hours or something, even if you had to come back the next day like some of those tennis matches before the 5th set tiebreak, you would always get a winner. Of course that will never happen now and the money powers won't want it anyway.
In theory, with the current climate, trying to get the 4 major belts to work together would be the best bet at a commission. Hence it'll never happen.
