    What say everyone?

Is Sugar Ray the greatest of all time? And if so, will he hold that distinction for ALL time?

    My 2 cents.

I wanted to vote Yes & Yes, but I ended up voting Yes & No.

My reason: to be honest nothing I can confidently defend to my dying day. But I want to feel like at some point, some time, some where another boxer may match or surpass SRR's legacy.

Thinking it's not possible to better him feels defeatist to me :yaay

I thought Canelo was the GOAT?

    Oscar said it was true.

On a serious note, there are a few guys that you could argue were #1, SRR being one of them. I personally think Greb is #1.

Its hard to predict the future. If Floyd had Pacquiao's offense or Ali had the power of Foreman we could have a debate. Its only been 100 years. Who knows what the world will produce in the next 200 years. But probably we will not see another SRR in our lifetimes

Yes he was but P4P I think Charley Burley was even better as was Duran in the 70s. Of course Ali was the Greatest and Floyd was TBE and as much as I hated SRL he was a really special fighter. Don’t forget Gentleman Gene Tunney, that SOB Jack Dempsey, the legendary Jack Johnson, Tommy Hearns, Marvelous Marvin Hagler of blessed memory and Uncle Azumah Nelson the best ever from Africa.

He is. Modern day fighters dont fight enough to surpass SRR.
They wilk not fight that often again so SRR remains goat.

All those fighters are not ranked above SRR.
And just because they call themselves the greatest or tbe doesnt mean they are.

Yes and Yes. He went 128-1 with his only loss being to Jake LaMotta who was a much bigger and stronger man. Then he he beat LaMotta 5 times after that loss.

Yes and it probably won’t ever change. Modern guys just don’t fight enough. Fighters were built different back then, fighting every other week instead of twice a year like today.

Not just the frequency but the quality. If you trim it down to his best 40 fights it's a ridiculously high quality modern-length career.

He is my number 1 all-time at present.

    So, yes.

    For all-time ?

As Yogii Berra remarked, "Making predictions is risky, especially if they are about the future."

So while his resume will probably never be surpassed, there is a non-zero probability that it could be.

    So, No.

To the questions, then...Yes and No.

Neither does it mean they are not either. I forgot to mention the great John L.Sullivan. What a character he was.
