My apologies if this has been done before. I couldn't find it. I'm curious what you guys think. Who are Tyson Fury's top 5 scalps on his resume? I know we have Wladimir Klitschko and Deontay Wilder. Which 3 come after them?
His resume is heavily weighted by the Klitschko and Wilder wins. Then there are decent B level wins such as Whyte, Chisora, and Wallin. The rest are C level wins at best.
1. Wladimir Klitschko 2. Deontay Wilder 3. Dillian Whyte 4. Dereck Chisora 5. Otto Wallin 6. Steve Cunningham 7. Christian Hammer 8. Kevin Johnson
Cunningham had 9 cruiserweight world title fights and was a 2x world champion at cruiser. He fought cruiserweight champions on 10 occasions, only stopped by Fury in 40 fights. He KO'd Huck in Germany (who most thought beat Povetkin several years later) beat Guillermo Jones (who stopped Lebedev in Russia) beat Wlodarczyk in Poland and took 20-0 Mansour's 0 at heavyweight post-Fury. Several of his losses were highly controversial (Wlodarczyk 1, Adamek 2, Glazkov) others were close decisions against cruiser champs (Adamek 1, Hernandez 1 and 2) or losses in his twilight years (Glowacki, Tabiti). Had he got the decision over Glazkov as most believed he deserved, he would have likely become IBF heavyweight champion in his next fight against a pre-AJ Charles Martin. When Cunningham fought Fury he was 210 lbs (not having to drain himself as he did at cruiser) coming off a highly controversial decision loss to Adamek and had home advantage in Fury's first fight in America, who was fighting without his trainer. So I'd say Cunningham is Fury's 3rd best scalp. Wallin may be better than Cunningham and I definitely think he'd beat Whyte and Chisora but we need to see more. We'll see how the win ages but right now I have him at 4th. Chisora and Whyte are interchangeable for 5th and 6th place, I give Chisora the edge for his performances against Vitali and Usyk.
when Cunningham fought Fury he was 37, couldn't cut it at cw anymore. Whte had recently been rendered unconscious by a 41 year old. Chisora's best win was a hail mary against a 40 year old Takam. Wallin is a nobody.
When u get down to it most heavyweights resumes are a bit thin. Theres not really anyone around other than AJ and Usyk who's any better than Whyte. He should probably fight the winner to cement his legacy though.
Klitschko Wilder Cunningham Whyte Wallin Chisora Hammer Johnson Pianeta Rogan Wifebeater Schwarz is back and being trained by Yoan Pablo Hernandez, so he might move up few spots over the next couple of years.
