Demanding a catchweight to a JMW unification, against Canelo who was big for 154-lb and could barely make 154 as is, Floyd would only fight him at 152, what a coward. The year before he fought Cotto at the full 154. But Canelo it had to be at 152. Such a diva Floyd was.

 

Canelo never drained a fighter with a catchweight like Floyd, Cotto and Pac did. Pac drained Cotto to 145, Marg to 150, and faded DLH down a full weight class. Cotto drained Martinez to 159, Geale to 157, and demanded Canelo fight him at 155. Canelo or DLH never did anything as bad as what Floyd, Cotto or Pac. So don't you dare compare Canelo to what Floyd, Cotto and Pac did.

 

Did Canelo even win any rounds? I haven’t seen the fight in years but I remember a shutout.

Watched the fight in Mexico and there was cheering and gunshots when Canelo ring walked, quiet as hell when he lost though lmao

Agreed, I scored Round 1 to Mayweather as well.

Round 1 : The bell rings and Floyd throws the first punch of the bout, a jab blocked by Canelo. Canelo circles Floyd and lands a jab to the body. Floyd lands a jab through the guard, and Canelo misses with a counter jab. Floyd then throws a lunging left hook that is partially blocked by Canelo. Floyd adds a left hook that lands on Canelo’s arm. Floyd throws a jab to the body, Canelo backs away and avoids it. Floyd misses with a jab. Canelo gets in a jab to the body. With 2:22 remaining in the round, Canelo gives Floyd a mild feint and Floyd bites hard reacting to it.

Floyd then lands a jab through the guard, followed by a jab to the body. Canelo responds with a jab that lands on Floyd’s belt-line as Floyd is moving away. Floyd throws a left hook and Canelo appears to narrowly avoid it. Then Floyd lands a jab to the body. Canelo then parries a Floyd jab with his gloves and they clinch. After the break, Canelo feints Floyd and gets him to react again, and then Canelo lands a jab to the body. Canelo feints hard again, Floyd reacts and backs away. Then Canelo lands a solid jab through the guard. Floyd responds with a jab of his own that lands through the guard. Then with 1:41 left in the round, Canelo feints for a 4th time so far in the round and Floyd bites again and reacts. Floyd resets and lands a jab to the body, Canelo counters with a left hook that grazes Floyd’s head, and Canelo follows that up with a jab that’s partially blocked and grazes Floyd’s chest. Floyd misses with a jab short as Canelo pulls back. Floyd throws another jab and Canelo skillfully parries it away with his gloves. Canelo then throws a left hook to the body that lands on Floyd’s right arm, followed by a straight right to the body that grazes Floyd’s belt-line as Floyd moves away. Floyd throws a left hook that misses, and Canelo counters with a jab that touches the left side of Floyd’s head, and Canelo then misses with a right hook. Floyd then lands a good jab through the guard. Then Canelo tries to land a jab to the body but misses, followed by a jab to Floyd’s arm that’s partially blocked. Floyd throws a jab to the body, Canelo appears to narrowly avoid it. (the camera was at a bad angle so it was hard to see)

With 1:14 left in the round, Canelo feints Floyd for a 5th time in the round and for the 5th time Floyd bites and reacts! Floyd throws a jab but it’s short, Canelo counters with a jab to the chest through the gloves. Canelo feints again, Floyd reacts again but this time Floyd turns that reaction into a right hand that appears to just miss as Canelo avoids it. (It’s hard to see if it landed, both camera angles are facing Canelo’s back) Canelo counters by missing with a left then with a right hand appearing to catch Floyd’s left arm as Floyd avoids it and crashes into the ropes. Floyd then resets and lands a jab to the body. Floyd then lands a sharp jab on Canelo through the guard. Canelo gives Floyd some subtle feints, one of them gets Floyd to react again, then Floyd throws a jab that misses short. Floyd then manages to land a jab through the guard, then throws two more jabs that are blocked. Floyd then throws another jab which misses, then throws a right hand that Canelo narrowly avoids by pulling his upper body and head back. (it may have barely grazed him) Canelo counters with 2 body punches that hit gloves / arms. Canelo misses two jabs to the body. Floyd lands a good jab on Canelo. Floyd then blocks 2 Canelo jabs to the body. Floyd lands a glancing inside left hook to the face. Floyd is short with a jab then throws another jab that is parried by Canelo. Canelo throws a double jab to the body both blocked by Floyd. Floyd then lands another jab through the guard, partially blocked. Floyd lands another jab. Canelo feints Floyd again twice and gets Floyd to react.

This to me was a pretty clear Floyd round. It was really one of the more clear cut rounds of the fight. I don’t know what CJ Ross was thinking giving this round to Canelo. I mean, if boxing were judged based on how many times you can get an opponent to bite on feints, then Canelo would win this round easily, but since it’s based on punches particularly clean punches, then it’s abundantly clear that Floyd won this round easily. I don’t agree with CJ Ross on this one. 10-9 Floyd.

I also used a youtube fan cam that shows the action from a different angle in some instances where it was hard to see from the showtime cameras.
