Loughran LoL. Not only was he well past his prime by 1934, but he admitted on record he knew he had to knock Carnera out to win

In an interview late in life, Loughran said his loss to Carnera was a pre-arranged fait accompli: "I had to knock him out to win, I had to agree to that". Footage of the fight is limited and scarce, but Loughran contended he had Carnera in trouble in Rounds 4 and 10, "but then, when I couldn't finish him, I knew the thing was over". The decision a foregone conclusion, Tommy Loughran told Peter Heller in April, 1972, "I beat (Carnera), no question about it".[8]

The film footage we have shows Loughran rocking Carnera badly with one right hand in round 4 putting primo on rubber legs. Tommy then mysteriously backed off

    “Smothered”

lmao not on film he didn’t

Loughran weighed 186 Moore would come in at 215. What skilled southpaw with power did Carnera ever fight?

I guess that turns on what you think that Ruddock had left at that point, which is highly debatable.

Even if we rule in Morrison's favor, that kind of leaves him as a one act band.

Beyond that he is just a can crusher.

He was the current #2 ranked heavyweight contender.

You literally lived through a period, where that kind of fight didn't happen in the heavyweight division, for year after year.

We literally went a decade without seeing the #1 and #2 face off!
He was bullish and confident before the fight.
Do you disagree with the decision, or have credible evidence of a fix?

If not, then it is a lineal champion beating his #2 contender.
They drowned them at birth back then.

I’m very convinced Loughran was on the handcuffs for that fight. Based on his testimony backing up the film footage I’ve seen

Carnera was not a complete fraud but he was a fraud who could not fight at a championship level in the 30s let alone in the modern eras with athletic big men

“drowned”. ha at least you’re making a joke out of the fact Carnera would have no clue how to fight a southpaw with skills and power

When pillow fisted Tommy landed one of his rights which put Carnera on shaky legs Tommy gave one of those “oh shoot” looks then backed up. An aging Tommy as well whose was much better in the 1920s. I can’t imagine what Tommy was thinking, unable to give his best Vs the big goon

A claim of that kind would require extraordinary evidence to back it up.

This was Loughran's one and only chance at the Heavyweight Title, so his price for wearing the cuffs would probably have included one of the smaller states.
I don't see how that could even theoretically be argued.

He beat multiple opponents ranked in the top ten by Ring Magazine at the time of the fight, who include three Hall of Famers.

You can argue at length about how good he was, but he was clearly world class.

I am not aware of him fighting a southpaw, so I cannot say how he would cope with that style.

He might have struggled with it, but it is also possible that he would have taken to it like a duck to water.

If the night before the fight Tommy goes out with the ladies and party's all night then Primo stands a good chance when they step into the ring.

Cockell was the current number 2 ranked contender when he fought Marciano, and he had about as much chance as a snowball in a hot oven.

The ones taking to the water were often Primo's opponents.

Well what does it tell you if the current Ring Magazine #2 contender, has as much chance against the champion as a snowball in a hot oven?

1.He did not deserve his ranking.
    2.He wasn't a very good heavyweight.

That is a conclusion that you could only arrive at based on his record before the fight.
Couldn't you just as reasonably argue that it proved the greatness of Marciano?

Morrison W UD (unless the ref takes pity on Carnera and calls it a night, in the latter half).

Primo didn't do so well against men with some size, weight (6' / 200lbs) and a little bit about them.

    Morrison would rout Carnera.

Nobody gave Cockell a chance, even Marciano, not a man to disparage an opponent said," why am I fighting this guy"? I think the Cockell fight was detrimental to Marciano actually he looked like an ordinary bruiser and a pretty dirty one at that.I didn't see any plaudits for him in the press next day, quite the reverse really!
