    It wouldn't matter what fight Smith fought.

    Beterbiev is just better in every department.



    Imagine what would have happened top Canelo if he'd picked Beterbiev instead of Bivol !

    Beterbiev was so sharp in there. Nice crisp punches. His footwork is also so effective. He is really the whole package. 100 stats in all department.

    Smith is too brave for his own good. Feel bad for him losing like that in front of his home crowd but it doesn't matter how good your chin is you can't trade with Beterbiev. His hands are just freakishly heavy and they will just scramble your senses even when they don't land clean. No one is taking that many flush bombs in quick succession from Beterbiev.

    I thought Beterbiev might box and use his movement instead of standing right in front of Smith and he did. That's the 8th fighter in a row who has never been stopped before or since Beterbiev has stopped. Credit to Smith for being willing to test himself against the boogeyman in just his 2nd defence instead of milking the title

    No, he didn't realize it was nothing. He just managed to club Joe in the side of the head while being extra defensive, and dropped him. But even when he was going for the KO, he wasn't being careless about it. He was still defending well. Not like he was trading with his chin up in the air.

    It’s a good thing that Canelo didn’t fight Beterbiev. One could imagine how badly that would have ended compared to Bivol.

    Really wanted Joe to make a fight of it, but, the nearer this bout got, the stronger the suspicion that it would turn out an anticlimax.

    Bivol is a fair bit better than Smith, but he seriously has his work cut out for him if / when he faces this monster.
