Prime Roy maybe would be nearly unhittable for Arthur, that said if he does connect with one of them boulders......whoo boy. Would boil down to if he could find someone as fast and mobile as Jones.

Beterbiev has already put hands on a longer, more fleet-footed, skilled and durable opponent than Jones in Usyk.

 

I think RJJ outpoints him. Roy was too slick and elusive.

 

He could also punch too. He doesnt punch nearly as hard as Beterbiev, but he can still bang. He can hurt Beterbiev if he gets too reckless and aggressive. If Beterbiev lands he knocks out Roy. If he doesn't land then RJJ late TKO or UD.

I don't think you people remember how good Roy was in his prime. The guy made elite fighters look like bums. Beterbiev might not be able to land a punch on prime Roy.

 

Seriously, prime Roy was the Bo Jackson of boxing. He was an otherworldly athlete who made the sport look easy.

Yeah Haye was very good on his feet as well. He was like a parade brand Roy in my eyes. Usyk? I don't feel like he's in the same class as Roy in that aspect, let alone a decade ago? Jeez. I guess Usyk is on his way to being the next people's champ. Faster than Roy, hits harder than Foreman, Better chin and jab than Ali....lol

 

I don't see Usyk winning a round against Roy.

You're not gonna beat Roy in a technical fight. He's just gonna beat you to the punch all night long.

 

J. Ruiz was adamant that HW Haye was faster on his feet than a non-weight cutting LHW-cruiser Jones and as a cruiser/HW who is not at all power based, it stands to reason that Usyk's even faster, more agile, better stamina, more skilled. As Jones' athleticism declined his lack of skill became apparent, whereas superior technicians and tacticians like Hopkins (who also had a far better chin) didn't decline nearly as much if at all into their mid-late 30's and on.

No one claims that Usyk hits harder than Foreman, what an absurd strawman. Faster feet than Jones? Yes. Better chin than Ali? Without question. Better jab? Very probably. But it's not really fair because Usyk can learn from the likes of Ali, Jones and so on but the reverse can't apply because time only goes one way.

Beterbiev beat Kovalev by 1 (disputed) point to qualify for 2008 Olympics. They were evenly matched.
Kov offered Beterbiev a chance to fight him in 2015 but he turned it down saying it is ramadan (lol).

Name these better fighters (LHW) that Jones beat.

 

Virgil Hill? Even if you don't rate Hill, Roy knocked him out with a right hand to the body.

If that doesn't sound impressive to you, think of how rare body shot knockouts are in general, and then think of how rare non-liver punch body shot knockouts are.

 

I wouldn't doubt Ruiz felt this way, **** by the time he faced Haye he was probably the slowest he'd ever been in his life. But I disagree, I'd say Hayes speed is definitely in the same neighborhood but the big difference and the level between them as a fan of both is, Hayes footwork often left him off-balance offensively and defensively. So some of his speed came at a loss of technique that you assume Roy was lacking....

Roy's athleticism basically fell from mount Olympus meanwhile guys like Hopkins had a far lesser decline because they weren't that supremely athletic to begin with, so this adjustment comparison is super apples to oranges.
Lastly my Usyk comments were a bit tongue in cheek, but I'm now aware you completely believe these things and reinforce my point...dear God.
