I think he did. But it's by no means certain he did. It's a shame that it's the only footage we have of McGovern, other than a recreation. I don't believe his claims about the Jimmy Britt fight or that his loss to Frank Erne (which I've not seen him claim) was a fix.

Every once in a while these clowns come out of the woodwork and ignore that Gans is clearly going down in that fight from punches that dont land and want us to believe that McGovern stopped him despite the fact that a bigger, stronger, harder hitting fighter like Nelson hit gans hundreds of times and couldnt.
