    Likely Shavers and by KO

But Shavers did lose to a chinny 180 pound journeyman when he was green so a Beterbiev win isn't out of the question, considering Beterbiev is far more skilled than he looks

Literally Shavers 3rd fight. Set for 4 rounds. And he lost by decision.

This fight wouldn't go the distance, and we're not talking about a green as grass Shavers.

I never said it would, i favor Shavers to brutally KO Beterbiev but i just said i wouldn't completely write him off considering Johnson sucks and is not anywhere near Beterbiev's league, even though Shavers was in fact green

That fight is about as relevant as Dempsey losing to Willie Meehan or Ali losing to Berbick. Pointless in a vs discussion between two fighters at their best.

Meehan beat Dempsey a year before he won the title.

If I had a nickel for everytime someone in this thread brought up a time a fighter lost a fight scheduled for 4 rounds, I'd have 2 nickels.

Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Disagree. Ali was completely shot against Berbick.

It would be more comparable to green Ali struggling with Sonny Banks but even more relevant. Yes Ali significantly improved, but this is Shavers. A one dimensional slugger that had ATG power. Shavers likely stops him and its a safe bet to wager on Shavers to do so because there is a clear size, power, and credible difference. That i agree with

But Shavers can beat hurt by smaller fighters with much less power and skill than Beterbiev so no i won't completely write him off like you. Light Heavyweights today average 185lb on the night. Beterbiev would be a small heavyweight in the 60s and 70s. Beterbiev has a chance, just not a good one. A very small chance indeed

It's not like Beterbiev is fighting Sonny Liston. That's a fight where he obviously has 0 chance

Which 185 pound fighters did Shavers struggle with when he was anywhere near his prime?

None which is why i heavily favor Shavers. Beterbiev has been dropped by far inferior men to Shavers

But Beterbiev has a small chance. If the fought 100 times Beterbiev probably catches him with something big a few times, considering Beterbiev is quite skilled and can box on the backfoot and counter. Shavers didn't have a good chin and Quarry tapped that ass. Quarry obviously batters Beterbiev as well but Beterbiev has ridiculous power for a 185 pounder and him having comparable power to quarry isn't out there.

I agree that Shavers wins but i dont think Beterbiev has "no" chance

A better question is what big puncher with a chin and high skill level did Shavers beat?

I was at the fight and would be very surprised if Beterbiev only weighed 185 in the ring. The guy is big all around. He's been the 190s on 30 day weigh ins previously.

Beterbiev would not be called a small heavyweight in the 70s and earlier.

Possibly 190. He weight around there 30 days before he fought Browne.

Shavers was 6’0 and came in between 206 and 211 for Lyle, Ali, and Holmes. I don’t see his size as a major threat for Beterbiev.

For me Beterbiev clearly! Shavers has just the punchers chance, wich is 1/10 or maybe less. He lost to Quarry TKO rd1. And Beterbiev is stronger, faster, more skilled, way better legs, timing and mixing of the punches. And ofc he ways about 190-195 naturally (with no weight cut). So i guess he will go into a fight with a comfortable 195-200 lbs.

Murderous heavyweight Power, plus he'd have about 10-15+ pounds on Beterbiev. Which doesn't sound like much but it's more than anyone at LHW. The biggest guy at LHW now i can think of is Zurdo and he was about 204lb on fight night. Zurdo might be the biggest LHW ever

Zurdo looks MUCH bigger than Beterbiev. He's the same height as Tarver with even more bulk and to put that into perspective prime Tarver is still considered a big LHW
