Could swear Tua was a champion, guess it was the Mandela effect. Great video!

Great video, Rumsfeld - and oh so true.

As a Tua fan through those years, you cannot imagine how frustrating it was.....

David Tua was a beast. Clearly he had the desire to move up in class yet once he arrived it was a different game.
Reminds me of the “Peter Principle “ in corporate America.

    excellent recap Rummy

If anyone deserved to at least be a minor beltholder during that time it was Tua. He blitzed how many champions in his time? Moorer, Ruiz, Rahman, Maskaev...

Shame his only shot came against Lennox, and he decided to show up grossly overweight. His own fault, but frustrating nonetheless.

On another note Tua was probably the hardest puncher the HW division ever saw. He made Earnie Shavers look like Zuri Lawrence.

What makes you say hardest ever? I'm curious.

(I agree he's clearly a very hard puncher.)

Eye test mainly. Plus the fact that almost everyone he ever dropped got finished soon after.

Tua vs Lennox was the beginning of my boxing Fandom. First fight I really got all jazzed up for even though I had sort of been following for a year or two before that. I can't believe I've been following this craziness for almost 25 years.

Sad we never got Tyson-Tua when both were active fighters in the sport. It would have been a cracking fight.

Haven't seen anything on Tua as accurate as this. Timing was against him like it was planned, If Tua had fought the Holyfield that Lewis did and came in around 225 pounds he could have dragged Evander into a war where his chances of victory would swell. He could have benefitted from better management .

@Rumsfeld this was a really good one. I've liked and enjoyed a high percentage of what you do but most of them are highlighting things I already knew. This one was great because, although I knew about Tua's individual fights, I was unaware of his chronology and timeline. It was really interesting to listen to you detail the timing, or lack thereof, which made Tua's career less successful than it could have been.

    Thanks for the video.
