I’m not sure if Shavers ever came out on top against a quality puncher with a chin, unless the bar is lowered enough for Jeff Simms.

Isn't it funny how the size is such a key factor in oldschool matchups, but if we're talking about modern fighters we basically are forced to assume that they weigh 20 lbs more than they actually did?

The difference here is that Beterbiev intends to move up to heavyweight and already fought at heavyweight in the ams, whereas the past is the past with guys who don't fight anymore.

Weigh in limit was 200.6 pounds. Likely 205-210 in ring. If he didn't bulk up after weighing back then, he still would today.

Oh, so now we should assume that he weighed 10 lbs above 200 lbs limit as well? Based on what?

Based on my distinguished knowledge of what boxers do after weighing in.

What a career LHW fighter do after weighing in for a HW fight? Tell us.

You’re silly. He had to make weight when he fought at heavyweight. He wouldn’t have to do that in the pros.

Yeah, but given that he had no problems making weight at LHW throughout his whole career, why should I assume that he'd come at 210 lbs at HW in ams? Maybe he simply made the weight without dehydration?

    How much do they matter?

9 min fights where you get stoppages like Bowe-Lewis?
