Groves was coming off arguably his best win, Eubank Jr going into the fight with Callum Smith and he was dealt with easily. Even if you don't want to say Eubank Jr win was the best fighter he beat the way he beat him was.

So in next fight Dawson got sparked in one round by Stevenson, 2 fights after that he was beaten by Tommy Karpency. The reality is the weight drain ruined him and that wasn't a better win than any of the above names mentioned.

Canelo has achieved things at SMW in 18 months that Ward couldn't his whole career. Neither come in top 10 ATG's at SMW but few more good wins would be hard to keep Canelo out.

He was coming off an injury against Smith and was still past his best. Chris Eubank is not his best win. Not way in hell

Oh right so that writes that win off but Chad Dawson being drained to a weight he hasn't made for over 10 years doesn't now who's biased?

Who is Groves best win then if Eubank Jr isn't?

Didn't think you'd come up with an answer to my last question.

You're going to use Adonis Stevenson as an example ? :risas3: Adonis Stevenson had ridiculous power at LHW. Saying Ward ruined him by draining him holds no more weight than saying Adonis Stevenson ruined him brutally KOing him. Actually Ward beating the crap out of him and stopping him could've ruined him.

He challenged Ward, he said he wanted to fught at 168, including in the tournament and was confident in doing so. Dawson didn't look any different, Ward just dominated him. Suprise Suprise, Ward is better than a middle aged Hopkins.
Canelo has achived more by beating lesser fighters and becoming undisputed because of it ? Cool.

James Degale. Much better win. It was a close fight but unlike against Eubank, Degale wasn't injury ridden and nearly shot, which is exactly why he retired right after he fought Eubank, the same reason Groves retired right after he fought Smith.

This is why the groves win isn't considered impressive for Smith. He was clearly not the same fighter after the Frotch fights, even if he managed to beat Eubank. Against Smith Groves was finished.

We'll do this again. Lets play along with your game and say Chad Dawson was weight drained.

Carl Frotch >> Caleb Plant BY FAR

Mikkel Kessler >> Billy Joe Saunders.

    Arthur Abraham > Callum Smith

    Allan Green > Rocky Fielding

Edison Miranda > Avni Yildirum (lol)

Even when Canelo beats Benavidez Wards resume will still be superior

Do I think Ward would get destroyed by Bivol?

No. Thats a good fight. I probably would favor Bivol slightly, but 'destroy', nah.

    -------

Oh well Froch said so, about one of his most disliked rivals of his career that he has remained perpetually bitter towards, it must mean its true then.

    -------

I wasnt implying Lara beat Canelo (though Id wager near to most observers felt he did beat Canelo), the point was he gave Canelo significant issues and were highly competitive in fights that could have easily been scored for him, in a fight he didnt have the power to hurt Canelo.

    ---------

I think you are confusing the way Bivol beat Canelo, as the only way to beat Canelo. Ward wont need Bivols engine or volume to beat Canelo. As I said, he will win on IQ+Size.

    ---------

I am not sure how someone can watch Canelo vs Jacobs, a fight in which rudimentary Jacobs wins 5 rounds, and not come away realizing that Ward wins 7 rounds.

However, you are likely in an extreme minority that would favor Canelo over Ward. Vast majority of those Ive seen touch on the matchup rightfully favor Ward.

Well for starters Canelo's not beating Benavidez.

Secondly there's no T in Froch. Froch and Kessler are the best wins out that bunch yes, certainly an asterisk over the Kessler win the way he used his head in that fight.

Smith isn't below Abraham and the rest are roughly equal. I bet you now if you made these 5 fights of the versions that fought both that it wouldn't be a 5-0 clean sweep. In fact I reckon Saunders and Smith would beat anyone on his record bar Froch and Kessler. You actually looked at Miranda's record above 160lbs? he's been knocked out in more fights than he's won. How can you go on about Ward's resume when you're having to include him as one of his best wins and even then he made hard work of that fight.

I might be in minority but I think Golovkin has a good chance of scoring upset vs. Canelo this time I'd have been even more confident vs. Ward.

You seen Darnell Boone vs. Ward where Boone deserved to win but got robbed. Every fight is different.

Ward wouldn't be getting off with the fouling vs the mega A side like Canelo, even if Canelo only wins 5 he's getting at least a draw might not be fair but neither were a good few of Ward's wins.

The Jacobs fight was 3 years ago. Relatively relevant.

The Boone fight was Wards 7th professional fight. Not really sure how relevant someone's 7th fight is when talking about these types of matchups.

Anyways... guess we'll agree to disagree.

Smith is below Abraham. Abraham in his prime was superior to smith and had a superior resume. Miranda was on a KO loss streak at light heavyweight, not 168. At super middle even though he lost to Abraham and Bute his win over green is better than anything Yildirum has ever done and who has Yildirum beat ? Thats right. Nobody. Who has Yildrim lost to at 168 ? More people that Miranda did at 168 and he got stopped more times in that weight class than Miranda did. And guess what ? Yildirums career isn't even over yet. Yildirum moves to LHW for several years and he gets slaughtered worse.
Too bad GGG didn't want that fight at 168 vs Ward, but does against Canelo. Pretty sure that says something

What, in Oakland? Unlikely, Ward can get dominated, dropped and still win a fight there.
Son of Goat wouldn’t fight anywhere else, as is tradition.

That said, Ward is still head and shoulders above ginger and would make easy nights work out of him.

Abraham got shut out a few times at SMW his prime was at MW. Miranda didn't beat Green at SMW he beat him at MW before Pavlick KO'd him. Periban was a good scalp for Yildrim too as good as anything Miranda did above 160lbs.
Also you know how you're saying Yildrim's career's not over, same applies to a few of Canelo's other wins that might go onto win more belts.

GGG would have beat Ward but he wanted 10x more money to fight Alvarez and Ward moved up. Don't bother trying to make out that was a duck coz if that's the case Ward blatantly ducked Bivol and Beterbiev.
