What boxers did Rocky Marciano consciously and deliberately duck, if any?

Where can I find the Marciano quote that Vingo hit him the hardest ? It was a right hand that Rocky said made him blackout, not a left hook Goldman called him a big hitter? Vingo only ever stopped 7 patsies. Archie Moore is not relevant here. Never heard of Foster or Hearns ,I'm new to the sport.

Are you one one of those guys who goes by KO percentage? Look up Tommy homes and Hatchet man Sheppards KO percentages. Two of the hardest hitters of the 40s

“the durable gladiator from the Bronx has the punch to put the first dent into Marciano- New York Times 1949

Goldman pre fight to Marciano "Rock this kid can hit like a mule".- Charley Goldman - 1949 New York Times

“Vingo hit me with a right hand and I blacked out but I didn’t go down just fell into a clinch.” - Marciano New York Times 1949

    Rocky was hurt again…

“Vingo stunned me with the best left hook I ever felt. I didn’t see it coming. It just exploded and I staggered. It felt like a daze. Sort of a blackout.”

“This guy is no sucker I’m afraid of it. It’s a tough match” - Al Weill about Vingo in pre fight. Quoted from Marciano latest book

“vingos young and tough. And the kid can really punch. But he’s flat footed and stands up straight. We’ll be alright”- Goldman back to Weill. Marcianos latest book

“I only saw Carmine Vingo live [later near death] against the coming sensation from Brockton, Rocky Marciano at MSG. My dad and I had great seats right over the ring, 1st row, side balcony. When the fighters were introduced Vingo towered over
Marciano and then the bout started. I recall in the very first round Bingo Vingo as he was known by his fans lifted Marciano
off the floor it seemed with a powerful right uppercut. Rocky
wavered, recovered and a war started. Both could hit, but
my doubts of this short guy from Mass. stopped when his
boulder like punches took it's toll on the bigger Vingo who took
horrendous punishment until the 6th round when he collapsed on his back unconscious with his foot quivering violently..A scary sight to see. The doctor Vincent Nardiello jumped into the ring with medics, and immediately put Vingo on a stretcher with wheels and instead of waiting for an ambulance rushed him to the nearest hospital a block or two away where he was put into intensive care and luckily survived with many a scare...
WOW it was 66 years ago, and I still remember those horrible moments. As I posted before I saw Carmine Vingo on our 12" tv set koing some guy. He had the makings of a top puncher, and
if Marciano didn;'t come on the scene those days, Vingo might have developed into a contender or champion. Such is fate...”- Burt

Without a doubt it was listed as 6”4. As well as several other sites. Interesting though.

Nope, I'm one of those guys who goes by WHO you ko'd ,and Vingo's victims were nobodies the majority of them had been kid several times before 4 of the 7 had losing records.Lamar Clark would have feasted on them!
    These are Vingos ko victims
1.Barney Metten 6-0-0 lost his next 2 and retired.
2.Fred Ramsey 8-9-1 won 1 of last 5 been kod 5 times, had 2 more fight s lost them both and retired
    3.Earl Turner 2-20-0 lost last 6 won 1 of last 12, had been ko'd 6 times
    4.Tommy Di Gorgio 6-2-0 ,won 1 of last 5
5.Jimmy Walls 3-9-1won2 of last 9, been stopped 3 times
    6.Johnny Williams 2-6-0 lost last 6 ,4 by ko
7.Al Robinson 0-0-0 This was the fight prior to Marciano.

I think Butter Bean could have stopped that ,"MAGNIFICENT SEVEN".

Source for Vingo hit him the hardest please?

Wow ! A manager [ and the MSG matchmaker,] hype's up his boxer's next opponent ,who would have thought it?
ps I bought Stanton's book 3 years ago!
NB Did you mean Tommy Gomez?

vingo was a teenager. A novice. No one said he was a world class fighter. Of course he was fighting tomato cans to gain experience

however it should be noted every newspaper from that area gave glowing reviews about vingo as did a poster here who saw vingo live. And all the newspapers, trainers of the era, and Marciano himself stated vingo could really punch hard. So I believe them. The very fact he gave Marciano such a difficult fight should attest to his massive potential at only 20 years old.

why didn’t he score more knockouts? Perhaps he lacked a finishing touch, maybe 4-6 round fights didn’t give him enough time, could have been a number of reasons

But he made Marciano “black out” and put him on rubber legs multiple times with 1 shot

was he a promising young prospect at 20 years old, 6’4 with a punch? Hell yeah he was

He stopped 7 tomato cans. I asked you for 2 sources you haven't got them neither have you any proof that All the newspapers and ALL the writers trainers thought he could really punch hard most of them had never heard of him! Nothing personal Suze ,I like your content ,just taking issue with this picture of Vingo as a big puncher based on stopping 7 bodies.

    Fellas

we have to get to the bottom of this

Vingo has been lifted by numerous sources as 6’4 but a few have popped up that claimed he is 6’0. Huge difference. Let’s find the truth

New York Times described vingo as “ “towered over Marciano”
