Does anyone else find Usyk's style frustrating to watch? I mean clearly his distance control is masterful, his punch selection is great, his footwork is masterful, his hand speed is VERY fast, he's a great boxer. But I find myself kinda frustrated watching him. It seems to me like he rarely "commits" to big punches, not putting a lot of mustard on them and throwing arm punches while bouncing around. Granted, those arm punches have enough snap to wake his opponents up, but as I watch some of his fights now I find myself wishing there'd be more going-for-the-KO. Granted he does get KOs... Argh. So what is it?? Something just feels off about it all. It's confusing for me as a boxing fan I admit, because I really do appreciate the sweet science. Maybe I'm just feeling secondhand frustration from his opponents haha.
Guys, what I think I'm trying to say here is that he's boring when I know he shouldn't be. For the record I don't think Groves, Winky, Ward, or Bivol are boring.
OK no need to get defensive, jesus. I literally praised the hell out of his skills and you say I need new glasses haha. Good sir I assure you my prescription is up to date. Joshua also fought like a scared kitten, that **** was embarrassing.
Agenda?? Oh lord. Look at my post history does it look like I have an agenda? I am saying Usyk is MASTERFUL and I have an agenda hahahaha.
If AJ opens up more it will be a more exciting fight, Usyk is too dominant that`s why his fights are boring.
Yes I know. I'm turning to the gurus here on this forum to help me figure this **** out. This is not an Uysk bashing thread or comparison thread.
He was more entertaining at CW but he can’t open up and throw a million punches a round without getting caught by these big boys.
Sounds like you don't appreciate, though. In your first paragraph you summed up pretty well a contemporary example of the 'sweet science', and then said it frustrated you...
I prefer to watch a more concussive style in general but if a guy doesn't have or feel he has the natural power to depend on that, or is facing a much bigger puncher, I don't blame them for more of a point style. The point style can still be very interesting/dramatic when they are fighting KO artists. When they fight other point fighters or defensive fighters it's often terrible though.
Absolutely not, he's a stunning versatile virtuoso that is a thrilling joy to behold, any fan of the sweet science, should find watching him not only exciting but enthralling and mesmerizing.
