I dont think Taylor could be that bad again in any rematch....so got to fancy him to right that wrong.

Catterall can mouth off all he wants....im not a fan of all the social media stuff. If Taylor doesnt fight him after Zepeda then it wont look good

Basically TTT said he wouldn’t rematch him because he was moving up, now he’s reminding at the weight and fighting someone else.

While I don’t think JC wins a rematch, makes TTT look really bad regardless.

Is Zepeda not a WBC mandatory?

Taylor needs to fight Jack next. He should have given him a rematch straightaway. The first fight was so close and deserved an immediate rematch. ***** move not giving him a rematch after the first one. I’m a Taylor fan but right is right.

Taylor has been ordered to fight his mandatory Zepeda and if he wins he can rematch Catterall next, which is I think what the plan is.

Anyone who watched the Josh Taylor: Portrait of a Fighter BBC documentary which was filmed during his preparation for the Catterrall fight will understand why Taylor was well below his best against Catterrall whose awkward style and excessive holding and spoiling tactics certainly didn't help

Correct me if I am wrong, but I didn't see any videos posted in those tweets, therefore these exchanges cannot be considered "verbal."

Regardless, like most silly boxing feuds, it all irrelevant anyway. Just more blather to hype their next fight.

Verbal definition: relating to or in the form of words.
It doesn’t have to be vocal, it can mean written words or typed words

That is a rather loose definition of the term, much broader than it is typically construed. But like many concepts, certainly debatable.

That said, however the communication is conveyed, it's nonetheless more irrelevant bull**** that is so typical of how fights are promoted these days.

Not that I blame fighters for engaging in this silliness. They probably each have 4-5 advisors whispering in their ears telling them to do **** like this to drum up interest.

What I blame are the fans who take this nonsense seriously - at least the adults. Testosterone-addled teenagers I will give a pass to, as their minds are developed enough to distinguish this blather from some actual dispute.

If Taylor threw this amount of jabs in the ring, he might have had a case of winning the first fight...

Great banter. Hoping for the rematch. Taylor definitely has to fight him again.

It didn't tell me that he didn't go through very similar rigors for his previous bout, for which he won considerable acclaim and required no alibis. Josh is not alone in having to make weight. It's one thing to cover up a troubled camp with affirmations that all is well, but it's another to post a side-by-side comparison of your last weigh-in and your current weigh-in hours before a fight and unequivocally declare the current version to be the fitter and stronger.

I can't buy in to his excuses, and I firmly feel that his performance should be taken at face value. If he rematches Jack and does with him what he was expected to do the first time, it should be attributed to adjustments in his approach, and not the weight (which will, once again, be a tight squeeze).

As a sidenote, I found that documentary generally disappointing. I was hoping for/expecting some compelling insight to a reputedly intense fighting character, but the film I encountered portrayed him as something of a depthless, petulant whiner.

I'm not just alluding to the weight. He had a chest infection. Covid. Blew up in weight looking bigger than I've ever seen him. He looked very fat when he took his top off. Suffered a leg injury. Was sporting a big shiner, two different ones if I remember correctly, sparring went really bad, in his own words he didn't remember it ever going that badly for that long before, and he looked terrible at the weigh in. This was all captured by the cameras at the time. I think it's safe to say camp didn't go well. I could tell something was off with him as soon as I caught sight of his face when he came out for his ring walk which I immediately commented on in the RBR thread.

As for the documentary. It was pretty dull
