He was two years out the ring at 42 years old when he fought the huge boring weight bully Ugas... And he still arguably won the fight. He should have had a few easier touches after such a long lay off especially at 42 years old. I was hearing things like "father time has come" and "his feet have gone" after the fight, totally ignoring the fact he was two years out of the ring and would inevitably be rusty
Did you not see what happened to Ugas his very next outing? Pacquiao was finished at the elite level, he'd only keep sliding.
Although I agree to an extent we're not privvy to behind the scenes and how motivated or what injuries he's carrying. For me it's probably the right time I don't want to see him get beaten by people he would have wrecked in his prime. Pac had a great career made some bank and seems to have his health so doesn't need to prove anything or carry on with diminishing returns. The biggest thing is the mental aspect and if that hunger isn't there and you've done everything then it's better to move on and start the next stage in life.
Ugas didn't even try to win against Spence. When he hurt Spence he was surprised and backed away himself. Pacquiao didn't look good because he was 2 years out of the ring. No one looks good after that amount of time out of the ring..especially if you're 42. Despite this he still arguably won against a 154-160lber in Ugas
This content is protected This content is protected Pac gave Ugas 2 vagina eyes. Massive weight bully Spence also did damage.
Pac got lucky. He lost a boring 9-3 type defeat brhind the jab of ugas where his age was showing. Had it been Spence he would hsve suffered a terrible beatdown like he himslf put on Oscar. It would have been painfull. Now people just remember Thurman fight as his last hurrah before his legs completely went after the long inactivity. He can due a final farwell fight vs a no hoper in manilla but that should be about it. Coming back will lead to painfull moments.
Agreed, I mean what could he have done? Who's he gonna fight? the winner of Spence Crawford, Boots Ennis? Had the fight with Spence come off he'd have been brutally beaten up. Spence exposed Ugas as a B level fighter and Manny clearly lost to him. If he wants to fight have an exhibition with Floyd and fleece the suckers out of PPV money.
Pacquiao was a career weight bully. What's wrong with Ugas doing it if Pacman is so beloved for doing it? I don't understand.
Truth be told, Pac should have retired after the Horn fight. Regardless if you think the decision was correct or not, the fact that Horn was competitive speaks volumes.
Or stop fighting men twice his size??? Either way, I don't disagree, but fighting a much younger and bigger man is a recipe for disaster. Even if you are the more talented fighter.
Pac was doing his thing in the lower weight classes and then he fought much bigger men for the last 10 years of his career. If he wanted to weight bully, he would have stayed at featherweight/lightweight. Although most lightweights are bigger than him on fight night...
Exactly. I don't really understand these people, what's the point of an ATG, one of the best ever, fighting some fringe contender? Obviously he wasn't going to beat Crawford or Spence at that point, he's lucky Ugas is flinchy and doesn't have killer instincts.
I'm a huge Pacquiao fanboy and it was about time he quit. He lost 117-111 to Ugas, a minor world champion he would have previously taken down. He no longer has a place at the elite level and even at the world level. And I don't see the point for a Pacquiao to box in the top 30-40.
