How much of a threat could Andy Ruiz be if he is fully fit and focused?

He’s good, but definitely not someone that would ever be a serious threat to the division. If he’s in good shape he has some really good athleticism, durability, and an explosive style. That combination alone can get you pretty far at heavyweight

You might as well ask how Ruiz would do if he was seven feet tall.

The idea that a man who could not show up fit or fully focused to defend the unified heavyweight championship of the world in his biggest fight, let alone show up fit and fully focused against a shot has been like Arreola, could now pull it off. It is laughable.

Ruiz got lucky and then completely disrespected and disgraced himself, his fans and the sport in his last two fights by showing up lethargic and uninterested.

Ruiz, even at his best, can't slip inside well enough to compensate for his short reach. The only reason he beat Joshua was due to Joshua's genius idea of trading punches on inside with a man who has T-rex arms by comparison. Just like Joshua's genius plan to outbox an elite master-level boxer in Usyk. Joshua is a moron. This does not make Ruiz a genius boxer.

It's a subtle distinction but Ruiz didn't win so much as Joshua lost. Joshua corrected the mistake in the rematch and Ruiz had zero answers.

Some guys just don't have the types of bodies that show off abs .....look at Fury; he's a juggling love handles slob but has the mentality of a fighter.

Ruiz has the fast hands and ability to take a punch such that he'll always be a contender but can't beat the top 4 or 5 HW'S.

Andy Ruiz looks to be in great shape. The problem is the fight isn't until September. And it's still June.

Andy Ruiz would be an even BIGGER threat if he actually fought once in a while.

Some fighters spend WAY WAY WAY WAY too much time preparing for fights and don't fight nearly enough.

He'll have spent countless hours in the gym so he can post videos online showing his condition, when he could actually be in the ring fighting and posting videos of ACTUAL WINS.

Every training camp doesn't need to be months and months of preparation. I'm so sick of training videos. We discuss training videos more than fights on this site.

Stay in decent condition and FIGHT REGULARLY.

By the time their ONE FIGHT A YEAR takes place, they all need a "vacation" from all the "training" they did.

Just train for three weeks and fight every month or two. More money comes in, less goes out.

It was my contribution, as in he's no threat whatsoever to the division!

He'd be a serious threat to any of the Middleweights.

Ruiz takes shots to make himself look ''in shape'' just like fatty girls on social media. In real life he never actually gets anywhere near his natural weight, which is a far cry from HW. If he got in shape, he'd be a LHW at best. I think people underestimate how much that fat he carries weighs.

I agree he got lucky against AJ, landed a decisive counter when he was getting beat and badly hurt.

I'd be shocked if he could beat Wilder or even if he can KO Ortiz.

Ruiz has skills and fast hands. However even if fit he is small and slow footed. So some styles are nightmares for him. Joshua easily defeated him in rematch by fighting long and tentative behind a jab. At age 32 it’s make or break time for Ruiz. If he can string together a solid win or two he can remembered as a good heavyweight. If he can’t he goes down as a 1 hit wonder. If he beats old man Ortiz. He can be on the level of a Rahman or Brewster.

It's too late for any drastic weight loss to benefit him. He should just fight the remainder of his career around 250. These crash weight loss attempts are always a disaster on a boxer's stamina and punch resistance.

About as much of a threat as he was to a completely shot Arreola.

I believe Ruiz is like toney- affective at any weight. He may not be aesthetically pleasing but he does have fast hands, some decent pop and a great left hook perhaps better than his right hand his excuse that he had tits that got in the way of his punches is bull, that is where he gets his power from!
