Wilder couldn't have successfully defended the WBC Heavyweight Title for the 7th time against Luis Ortiz and successfully defended for the 10th time against Luis Ortiz if he didn't successfully defend for the 8th time against Tyson Fury in between them.

42-2-1. 41 KOs. WBC Heavyweight Champion. Five-year reign. 10 successful title defenses. Only lost to the best fighter on the planet, the World Champion Tyson Fury. Only person he didn't stop was the best fighter on the planet, Tyson Fury ... who also outweighed him by 40 pounds in all three fights, but who Wilder also dropped FOUR times.

People keep hoping Wilder comes back.

Even those who say he was nothing KEEP CREATING THREADS about him.

When Tyson Fury is elected to the Hall of Fame many years from now, Wilder will already be there to welcome him aboard.

The two are linked in heavyweight history. When one is mentioned, so is the other. If one is legitimate, so is the other. That's how it goes.

He done good man. Made some money for nice mannered yes men barney gumble alike. Stayed true to his team and despite firing Breland, albeit loyal to the guys who were around since day one.

How many people can one guy uplift? Just himself? A few? Many? Well Deontay was a reusable light source, he made money for everybody. He put his city on the map (Tuscaloosa or whatever may be it) brought excitement to the game, sent shivers down spines being a bad man to mess with, we seen him humbled in life; praise that he found peace of mind instead of being on a road to a body count quest, he knocked out many decent fighters, had a statue made after him and can ride off in the sunset.

Most importantly he provided for his family (his daughter especially with a congenital disability spinal bifida) and made some decent coin out of the boxing game. They say if there is a fight on one corner, and a basketball game of pickup on one corner; the block with the fight would gather more people. Enough said, hate him or love him, 100 people or so took the time out of they're day to chime in what they think about the man, an explosive heavyweight puncher!

 

It's weak but its still clearly the 4th best of the post Wlad era. Needs a Whyte/Parker level win, AJ would also be a nice fight if he loses to Usyk.
