    Who wins?

I think Floyd wins because of his MUCH higher ring IQ. As fast as Taylor was, his ring IQ sucked.

Taylor tried to block everything with his right glove while constantly tyhrowing qujick shots with his lead hand, he was always in position to counter which would put Floyd into a shell, however Taylor ate a lot of hooks in his fight with Chavez, Julio was a more active fighter than Floyd, if Floyd fought like the pretty boy he probably would have got lit up like he did v the drunken master, the older Floyd might have spoiled his way to a cagey decision, he would have dipped and held a lot.

Floyd used too much energy trying to explode out of his positions, he was no good if he didn`t dip below his opponents waist to illegally evade shots, his punch technique was too poor to put a beating on Taylor.

If Floyd wasn't allowed to duck below the waist in every fight, in excess of even 20 times, would he have won? That's 20 times he punches someone in the face, and cheats so he doesn't have to box them when he's out of position. He didn't DOMINATE, he CHEATED.

Floyd did fight a LOT of champs, and all that, but he was also just in the weakest era ever.

Taylor via competitive UD (7-5/8-4). I used to pick Floyd, but now I favour Taylor. Taylor's speed, work-rate & combinations will give Floyd major problems. He's the naturally bigger & physically stronger of the two, & would force the action - making Floyd fight more & at a higher pace than he's used to.

To beat Taylor - you had to be physical, hit hard & beat him up. I don't see Floyd being able to do that - as he's not stronger, bigger, busy enough or a big enough puncher to deter Taylor or slow down his work-rate of offense.

Floyd totally dominates the second half of the fight and wins a decision. Such an easy pick.

Floyd likely was stronger. Many opponents noted how strong he was.

True, but Mel was very physically strong. I mean, you have to be if you can stand toe-to-toe & back up Chavez repeatedly. Floyd never faced someone nearly as good as Taylor at 140. At 140, Floyd had problems with Corley- who was a poor man's Taylor. He made it physical & forced Floyd to fight more than he wanted. Taylor, who is much better, will fight a similar way (without getting dropped] but will be much more effective. If it turns into a dog-fight, Taylor will be the victor.

Corley was a SOUTHPAW and a totally different fighter then Mel. He caught Mayweather then Mayweather adjusted and beat him up.
Mel troubled Chavez with his speed but he never was close to putting Chavez down was he? And you forget Mayweather is MUCH faster then Chavez.
The only fighter Mel fought who had Mayweathers speed was Howard Davis and he was lucky to get a draw.

If I'm honest, I think Taylor was the Amir Khan of his time.

    • Won an Olympic medal
    • Exceptionally fast hands
    • No defense or ring IQ
    • Lost every time they fought top fighters

I agree, I think Taylor presents all kinds of problems for Floyd. This goes the distance and probably has wild disparities in the scoring
