What is the reason for him pulling out?

I feel for him. He's a nice lad and talented (gave Bebertiev a decent fight) but has just had no luck.

Time for him to hang the gloves up, he’s pushing 40 and seems to fall apart physically in every training camp he has, could put him in with Yarde but think he’ll be waiting around for Beterbiev

There is simply no way he can continue to be getting fights at this stage.

This is his second last minute pull out in a row. He is ancient at this point and has only fought twice in the last 3 years.

Its time to retire. Its a shame as he is an exciting fighter.

It’s nothing to do with luck. This guy has pulled out of 4 or 5 fights in under 2 years including a free shot at the
World Title. A hungry, reliable fighter would have locked down and made sure you don’t get hit with Covid, but Smith seemed like he was happy to get out of it. Just retire - it’s over.

After seeing Smith v Beterbiev I really think Johnson could have beaten this year.

Unlikely to get another shot however so would probably be best retiring.

He's done, which is a real shame, he's past his best now though and it's downhill from here. I don't want his final fight to be him getting stopped by a fringe level contender.

Exactly. The hunger isn't there anymore and a last minute pull out is the most frustrating thing a boxer could do.

He needs to hang them up. No decent fighter will ever make a fight with him anymore and I'd be surprised if a top promoter would either.

    It's over for him unfortunately.

Frustrating, he was a decent fighter with potential. Shame for us fans and his opponents who trained for nothing. If his heart is not in, or he's physically not able to fight, he needs to knock it on the head now.

I was having a bet on his opponent. Disappointing.
