Happening on the 30th of July for the ebu and commonwealth cruiser weight titles.

a good fight this. Chamberlain has done very little since losing to okolie years ago. He’s ticked over against bums on channel 5 whilst smith lost to riakporhe and then beat some solid fighters.

    I’m going smith late stoppage

Brilliant fight if it goes ahead...

Isaac Chamberlain is talented, not the biggest CW but has ability and has grown into the division and was wrongly written off after the Okolie bore fest. I think ability wise they are actually fairly close to each other so will be a really interesting fight.

Good and solid main fight for a Boxxer show on Sky Sports. Just a shame that it coincides with Wasserman´s show on Channel 5 the same evening so there will not be many viewers on Sky Sports.

Why would anyone who already subscribes to sky sports want to watch the C5 show instead ?

Don’t get this mentality that fights/fighters are crap unless there pound for pound greats fighting. It’s an intriguing domestic fight

Just have a look through some of his posts in other threads, there's some real gold out there.

Back to what you were saying though, can you imagine this mentality years ago or, more recently, can you imagine if the likes of Tevin Farmer and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai let it get to them and gave up? The latter was stopped in the third round in each of his first two fights and after 5 fights had a record of 1-1-3, he went on to inflict the first two defeats of the legendary Roman Gonzalez's career, destroying him in the second fight to retain the belt he'd taken from him in the first.

I'm thinking of the general boxing audience. Channel 5 had 1.3 million viewers to the latest Wasserman Show. There will not be many viewers left for Sky Sports. The majority will choose Channel 5's offer.

50/50 fight, gun to my head I’d go Billam Smith, think he has more fire in him and will dig deeper to win a fight than Chamberlain will

Whitaker on the undercard, have to admit I'm intrigued. Gut says he's got the goods to go to world level

1.295 million of Channel 5's "boxing fans" will be people that have fallen asleep watching Jane McDonald warbling on a cruise

I think he’ll have a similar career to James Degale but with more success. He says he wants to fight Dan Azeez for the British Title by 5 fights but his debut will only be a 6 rounder.

I have a feeling after the end of his 10 fight deal he’ll move to Hearn / DAZN.

Defo mate two good examples in there, and there’s lots of others salida beating Lopez after a load of losses when Lopez was flying in a classic, Leigh wood going well now after bumps in the road. And looking like you say further back with all this hype job, bum, etc shouts as soon as anyone loses at the top level they’d have been calling Lewis a bum after he was stopped by Rahman, George foreman would be a big stiff Hype job for losing to Ali, a loss or two and someone’s a bum.
But aside that so what if someone never becomes a p4p or even top ten of their division, like the example of this fight, yeh they’ll probably never be the best in the world but so what it’s a good domestic level fight or does it not matter to be British, or commonwealth champion etc. Just because someone’s not the best in the world doesn’t mean they’re not intriguing high level fights or wars, like saying Gomez v Arthur, or macklin v Moore, or even ward v gatti ffs weren’t worth watching cos they weren’t the best in the world.
Of course criticism is fine, and it’s ok to state someone wont cut it at a certain level, just hate all this ever more prevalent shouts of bum, hype jobs etc to describe fighters who win British titles and the like.
    Anyway rant over!
