What the fight he was winning ? Probably a good job he did given the doctors told him his career would've been over if he carried on isn't it
Yes the fight he was a winning against the much smaller man ,who was not a puncher, and was a late substitute. Please provide the source that his career would have been over. Buddy McGirt fought Whitaker with a torn rotator cuff his career wasn't over afterwards ,Danny Williams carried on with a shoulder dislocated and ko'd his opponent . Larry Holmes fought Norton with a torn biceps tendon in his left arm.
Google it yourself it's not difficult. It's been referenced as a career threatening injury and anyone with a brain knows that injuries can be different. Haye was advised to retire due to a shoulder injury and remained on the sidelines for a few years before the pound note lured him back out. George Groves was a shadow of himself in the Callum Smith fight after the shoulder injury in the 12th round v Eubank and promptly retired after that fight. Yeah a fight he was winning..... let's remember at the same age as the Byrd "loss", Lennox was getting knocked out in 2 rounds by McCall lol
Vitali had a torn rotator cuff same injury as McGirt. All fighters are brave, but some are braver than others. Let's remember Lewis was 37 years old and at his career heaviest when he beat Vitali who was bang in his prime.Le'ts also remember Lewis rematched McCall and beat him ,Byrd a10 day substitute ,never got another chance with Vitali did he?
He beat him in the rematch because he was mentally unstable and had a breakdown in the ring Either way, I find it ironic you have a bee in your bonnet about Vitali quitting when your username is a reference to a fighter that jacked it twice to Ali........ lol
This was your statement. given the doctors told him his career would've been over if he carried on isn't it . And its BS! No such statement was made to Vitali. No Bee, I didnt mention Vitali's name you did.
It’s kinda weird that while you could make a case that Lewis overall had a better career than Tyson,Holyfield an Bowe, I would favour all 3 in their primes over Lewis though not by much
The only Heavyweights I give a realistic chance of beating Lewis are..... Larry Holmes Joe Louis Muhammad Ali I don't think Foreman would match up well vs Lewis, and I don't see even a prime Mike Tyson beating Lewis. Due to Lewis's massive attribute advantages and being a master at controlling distance, which the much smaller Tyson would have massive issues against.
Prime Ali from 1966-74 Foreman 71-73 Holmes 1979-81 Tyson 1986 -89 Bowe 91-92 Liston 1960-63 Holyfield 90-93 (Hell well beyond his prime version of Holyfield landed on Lewis shockingly easy.) Prime Louis had the firepower and skill. But he'd need to get off 1st. He couldn't take Lewis's power for any length of time.
