Tough as nails too. The grit he showed versus Hurtado and especially Trinidad, fought rounds 2 through 12 with a broken jaw, tells me all I need to know. Bud’s one of the best fighters of this era. Meanwhile, Pernell is an unquestionable all time great at lightweight.

No one more skilled than Pernell. Also my boy Erroll Spence Jr fundamental skills are better than Crawford. Lesson 1 there is a difference between speed and flash and skills.

I said his fundamentals skills are better and he throws. Straight punches. Better and more consistent puncher in bunches, better jabber and more thudding power, cuts off the ring better etc.

Crawford is a far better finisher, Spence has the size but can`t get all his weight into his punches, Bud is a better counter puncher look at his counter right hook and he`s a switch-hitter.

Again I said better skills not better finisher. Being a switch hitter does not mean you are better and is actually a disadvantage for Bud in this fight. Spence is going to find Bud a lot and Bud is going to want to have it out with him when he realises Spence is better than he and Bomac thought and that will contribute to Bud being stopped.

Both guys are skilful and both guys are athletic. A good example is Floyd Mayweather has better fundamental skills than Roy JONES and JONES is the more athletically gifted fighter. Ditto Spence and Crawford.

You can’t see the wood for the trees.

    Athletes get better over time?

    Answer this question:

Do the boxers keep getting better over time??

    No.

    Obviously not.

Now all the evidence that you need is STARING you in the face.

Just do some very quick research.

Other athletic sports are based more on power, as they are racing between 2 points in the quickest time possible.

You’re comparing sports that are timed in milliseconds, to two guys putting their skills together in a stylistic match up in a boxing ring.

    Boxing is more skill based.

Fights are determined on skills, with the aid of athleticism.

Just take a look at AJ:

Look at how incredibly athletic he is.

His athletic stats both in the gym and out on the track, are off the charts.

Robert McCracken had him on the track doing sprints etc, with very respectable times.

He’d probably annihilate every HW over 100-200m.

Statistically, you probably couldn’t find a more athletic HW.

He also has a chef, a masseuse and a strength and conditioning coach.

He is the epitome of the modern athlete, where he trains by using high tech sports science techniques.

Now would you agree with the above?

    Yes or no?

Now remind yourself of what happened 3 years ago:

He was turned upside down by a guy with man boobs, who literally eats snickers and burgers in camp.

    An obese, B level HW.

How the hell did that happen??

    I’ll tell you why:

    Because styles make fights.

The boxers don’t keep getting more skilful.

The sport doesn’t keep progressing, where the fighters keep getting better.

In fact, many aspects of the sport has REGRESSED.

There has been no progression for years.

I can give you ACTUAL PROOF of this.

I can prove you wrong very quickly.

I can obliterate your theory with absolute ease, by just typing out the following sentence:

There’s a number of divisions today, that are nowhere near as great as what they were years ago.

Today’s group of SMW’s, MW’s and HW’s aren’t as great as what they were 30 years ago, in the early 90’s.

    The fighters aren’t as good.

The divisions haven’t got the same depth.

The sport just ebbs and flows, where it’s done so for years now.

Instead of making ignorant comments based upon other sports, just go and see for yourself.

He’s just more powerful and offensive.

    That applies to Floyd too.

Yet you wouldn’t have many people saying that Bud was a better overall fighter than Floyd.

Tbf Pernell wasnt exactly a banger...but I don't think it's a black mark against him that he preferred to box his way to a decision...he was a brilliant boxer...Crawford's now 34 or 35 ...and we still have no idea how good he is
