Its just facts. Pea was an incredible fighter in his prime.
Pea beat so many better fighters then Crawford it isn't even remotely close.
I mean Pea beat Buddy twice. Beat Vasquez at a higher weight the same Vasquez that beat Winky.
And then he completely shut sown Azuhma worse then anyone ever did.

I’m a big Sweet Pea fan and not so much a Crawford fan, but Crawford clearly. Boxing is worldwide now, there are more styles to deal with and tougher opponents in general. Pernell was great defensively but his offense beyond his jab was fairly non-existent against the better opposition. Crawford can fire inside punches with power and timing, his control of range and punch selection is levels above Pernell. Pernell would often make opponents miss and wouldn’t make them pay. He was fun to watch but he was one-dimensional, today he would be Tevin Farmer and not the great Sweet Pea. Times change, your heroes were just people and a product of their time.

If Crawford beat Spence, Charlo 154, Demetrius Andrade, Charlo 160 and GGG, then he would be close to Sweet Pea, plus we would have a much better idea how he performs under pressure.

Right now he doesn't even have a great win.

You weren't watching boxing when Pernell Whitaker was boxing were you? This is the problem with social media - you think you can analyse a fighter's career from 30 seconds of highlights. Plus you obviously DKSAB.

So he has to become a 6 division champ and undisputed in 4 divisions to be close to a 4 division champion who was undisputed in 1?
    Nostalgia is a drug

Pernell was my favourite boxer when I started watching in the late 90s, yes I was little bit late to see him live but I still purchased dvds of all his fights, downloaded them on a torrent site (world boxing video archive).
Somebody has an opinion you don’t like so they’re a liar who doesn’t know anything about boxing, yeah right. Instead of pretending that you know who I am, why don’t you actually talk about the topic? I explained why Crawford is the more skilled fighter, do you have something to say to that or do you just want to cry about things you imagine?

So tell me what you make of the Hurtado and DLH fights then, since you think you’re such a Pernell expert and he’s so many levels above Crawford..

There is no world where Tevin is even close to being as skilled as Pea.
Did you not watch Pea wreak Buddy to the body in the rematch or watch him land multiple combinations on CHAVEZ? Not exactly a limited offense.
Pea has beaten so many fighters it isn't even funny.
I mean honestly Buddy at welter is better then anyone Crawford has beaten.
Then go up to jr.middle and Pea beats Vasquez who was a dominant champion who spanked Winky BEFORE he fought Pea.
And I'm not even touching on all the fighters he beat at lightweight and jr.welterweight.

I don’t know how good Buddy was in his day, so I can’t really comment on that. I knew Simon and Meldrick Taylor (who stopped Buddy), but otherwise I’m not familiar with his class of opponents. My impression from the Pernell fights was that he was a bit of a scrapper, the perfect style for Pernell.
Chavez was always right there as well, so landing punches on him isn’t amazing. I haven’t watched that fight in well over a decade, and I obviously thought he beat Chavez.
It’s difficult to compare, because it’s obvious that boxing has come a long way since the 90s. As Pernell was, transported to the current day he would be Tevin Farmer. I don’t know what the Vazquez fight has to do with anything, he would have obviously improved from Pea to Winky.

I’m not claiming Tevin Farmer wasn’t skilled btw, but he’s almost identical to Sweet Pea (Farmer’s jab isn’t as good but his straight left is better than Pernell’s).
