Well Lewis did right because remember it only takes one shot to get stopped.
But he did wait a little too long even Steward lost patience.

I’ll have to have a look again but I recall Tyson trying to really bring it to Lewis in the first round - as was Mike’s MO and really his only hope of any chance of winning - Tyson was never going to be viable for more than 1 or 2 rounds.

Anyway, I remember Lewis turning it around even before the first round was out with Lennox showing some decent aggression and landing the big shots.

Lennox made a statement early but he did settle down to a more cautious, low risk strategy thereafter - which is fine unless you’ve toned your own aggression too far as to actually increase whatever chance your opponent has - viz: allowing more fight time for them and playing an offence which is isn’t a complete deterrent.

It can only be better to end a fight more quickly if you can than to allow it to go longer than necessary and invite disaster - particularly against a guy who could wing a powerful, single lucky shot - no matter how slim the chances of same might be - thus Steward telling Lewis to put the pedal to the metal.

My thoughts exactly. Tyson's best chance was to be allowed to hang around, Lewis gets complacent, Tyson lands the home run shot.
There's a difference between reckless aggression, and purposeful aggression.
It basically what Manny Steward was getting on Lewis about in the corner.

All respect but really? Holmes looked worse after both Shavers and Snipes, look what happened.

He looked exactly how Holmes looked v Shavers, but Shavers started throwing hay makers and looked more tired than Tyson did at the stages those fights were at.

Snipes was a perennial top 10 contender thru the late 70's mid 80's. Was he truly World Champ material? No of course not. Was he awful, as you wrote? No he wasn't.
He looked more capable in the ring than one trick pony Wilder .
He knew how to use a jab, and how not to telegraph his right hand.

lol! He just had quick head movement, he was all over the place, Wilder would have sparked him early.

Snipes had a very all-over-the-place style, which always made me think Michael Spinks took a few tricks from him pre-Holmes. Larry always had trouble with weirdo/awkward fighters..

He wasn't a great fighter, far from it. But he had heart and perhaps a bit more ability than you give him credit for.
I don't think Wilder would have got him early, Snipes was too tricky. But yeah, after 7 or or 8 rounds sure.

Spinks v Snipes would have been a close fight.

Well it was not that long ago that Rahman ko Lewis. At the time I was thinking Tyson could get Lewis out early if he landed his best Sunday punch.
