So Helenius wants to end his career being brutally KO'd? Hope the money is worth it. Sitting duck opponent for Wilder basically.
I won’t believe it until the fight happens. Without a doubt a top 5 name on Wilders resume (which says a lot…) but Helenius is way too easy to hit. Hopefully Helenius comes out guns blazing and tries to bully Wilder. Put him on the back foot and swing for the fences. Too much risk in Wilders eyes for me to believe this is signed
Sugar Robert Helenius would be Wilder's first opponent who's the same size and has brutal power. I don't see this ending well for the dosser. When that uncoordinated mess unravels Sugar Robert Helenius will meet him with the most powerful counter punches he's ever felt in his life. SRH by absolutely shocking KO3, unconscious.
I don;t see why you have such faith in Helenius power. You reckon he'd KO Wilder with shots that weren't even KOing Kownacki.
Teper was past his best when he was losing to Wach and Hammer (who a past prime Ortiz schooled) years prior to losing to Helenius. Peter and Brewster were badly washed up by that point. Helenius's best career wins came against Kownacki, who went life and death over 10 (and may well have lost over 12) with a less experienced Martin than the one a 42+ year old Ortiz KO'd in 6. Jennings was, by Wlad's own admission, one of Wlad's best contenders, possibly his best since an undefeated Peter and years later Jennings ran Joyce very close in Britain but Ortiz outboxed and KO'd a previously un-KO'd Jennings in 7. Ortiz would go unbeaten against Helenius's opponents, knocking out almost all of them (if not all of them). Helenius loses at least three and probably five (given his inconsistency) against Ortiz's opponents.
Whyte: Two weeks notice, clearly came for the paycheck only. Possibly even paid to lose. Duhaupas: Gassed after two rounds. Could hardly stand after the fourth round. Washington: Had lung chlamydia.
Excuses, excuses. If he's really as good as you say he shouldn't be losing to the likes of Whyte in his prime, regardless. He's supposedly a KO machine yet couldn't KO glass jaw Whyte. Look at the quality of opponent you're trying to excuse ffs. Do you think any top fighter would lose to the likes of Washington?
That's a pretty cr*p critique of this choice of opponent as it opens the door to someone pointing out that Wilder opponents Duhaupas and Washington didn't go 12 rounds with Helenius like Whyte; they KO'd him in 6 and 8 respectively. If the argument is "Helenius is inconsistent" that doesn't help your case as Whyte beat Helenius on short notice in Britain over 12 rounds right in between Helenius's KO losses to Duhaupas in Finland (when Helenius was 22-0) and Washington in America. Helenius is coming off back to back KO wins over Kownacki so it's fair to assume he's in a better mental and physical space than when he lost a decision to Whyte, got a gift against this guy and was being knocked over. Have a look at the bums that Lewis and Wlad fought after their first losses. They didn't just have one bum fight either and they weren't coming off back to back defeats with nearly as much brutality or substantial inactivity. Helenius is levels and levels above the Justin Fortune's and Zoran Vujicic's. If this is the comeback fight then Wilder's next fight should be at an even higher level still. My guess is it will be Andy Ruiz, provided he can get past a 43+ year old Ortiz who he tried his best to avoid. Whyte is irrelevant after being embarrassed and exposed by Fury. He was a Matchroom pawn: if he was serious about the Wilder fight he could have made the switch to PBC and got it.
If Whyte is irrelevant what does make Wilder with an inferior record? Why does Whyte have to change promotions to make a fight happen? Ruiz and Martin are PBC and fought on Matchroom cards. It's a duck to fight lesser opposition plain and simple. Wilder team stated they wanted to fight a too quality fighter next, Helenius is not that. Considering outside of Fury Wilder has failed to fight any quality fighters , at his age he doesn't have long left to beat any if he can. Sanchez is PBC and doesn't have a fight scheduled. There's no excuses why they can't make that fight.
Too risky.... If I were Bronze Dosser I would lure Duhapas from that Parisian bakery he works at for a final payday..
Can't be excuses if they are true. Whyte was an anomaly in SRH's career, there is no other fight like that. During the second round SRH was easily timing him and even the live betting odds shortened a lot. My theory is that SRH was very surprised how poor Whyte was which is the reason he didn't throw any punches after the second round. He was paid to lose and wanted to avoid accidentally knocking him out. Duhaupas was also a disaster in the making. Prior to that SRH had shown huge stamina issues, even said himself he doesn't have to work on stamina because he can end the fights early. At that time Duhaupas still had his durability and was very unlikely to get knocked out during the first rounds. The Washington loss is the most inexcusable but stuff like that happens even to the best.
I think that is some wishful thinking on your part. Wilder was recently dropped from WBA rankings. Sky/Boxxer are looking to make Hunter v H. Fury, which is WBA#1 v WBA#3. The winner of which is far more likely to get first shot at Dubois. I think the ship has sailed on Helenius getting that WBA title shot due to necrosis of his career since he won that first eliminator. However, I agree with your point that Usyk wants to fight Wilder, and a high ranking in both WBC and WBA will help sell that fight.
In your tiny mind Whyte has a superior record to Wilder but in the real world Wilder is a historically long-reigning champion with a historical KO record and Whyte is a mediocre contender who was recently trashed by the guy who Wilder fought a historic trilogy with. "Ruiz and Martin are PBC and fought on Matchroom cards." This is "golden rule" type thinking that has little relevance in the cynical world of business. Hearn is not liked in America and PBC in particular do not want to give him any unnecessary opportunities to increase his influence. Had Whyte been a PBC fringe contender instead of a Matchroom fringe contender Wilder would have given him the brutal KO that a badly faded Povetkin and Fury delivered instead. If Wilder hasn't fought any "quality fighters" aside from No.1 ranked Fury then by that standard AJ has arguably never fought a "quality fighter". There is no hard dividing line there, it's purely subjective. Sanchez may well be the opponent if Wilder beats Helenius and Ruiz loses to 43+ Ortiz as no one wants to see Wilder-Ortiz 3. We'll see what happens. But what's Sanchez done exactly according to your CV calculator? Clearly nothing compared to Ruiz, who destroyed AJ, is a former unified heavyweight champion and constitutes a far more lucrative, high status fight.
In the real world it's clear that beating Povetkin, Parker, Rivas, Chisora and Helenius is better than Ortiz, Duhapas,, Szpilka , Washington and Stiverne. AJ has beaten half dozen guys with better records than anyone Wilder has beaten ( Wlad, Povetkin, Whyte, Parker, Ruiz and Pulev. Sanchez beats a younger version of Wilder in Ajagba . I like the look of Sanchez, intelligent fighter, good technically, good counter puncher, fast hand, good head movement and good foot work.
