If Jack can get the shots home, perhaps not. I guess the question of out boxing and avoiding Jack's bombs is another thing again.
I can see quite a few beating him, but not too many would be favored. Skilled counterpunchers like Moore, Charles, Langford or Fitzsimmons would be problematic for him.
Of course. They're essentially the same size. I'd pick Ezzard Charles and Gene Tunney with some confidence. Lloyd Marshall and Billy Conn would have really good chances in the region of 50.50.
I like the thought of Charles v Dempsey. I still think Dempsey wins but would be a great fight imo. Same goes for Langford and Moore. But to actually beat him?, that's a tough one.
Michael Spinks, Roy Jones, Ezzard Charles, Michael Moorer, James Toney, Dwight Muhammad Qawi, Archie Moore, Artur Beterbiev and probably more IMO
Gene Tunney probably, Fitzsimmons maybe. I dont think Charles holds up too long against Jack Moore has a solid chance but I still see Jack winning. Roy Jones? He probably makes Dempsey look silly for a bit but after Jack connects its good night Roy.
Dempsey had two great light heavyweights during his own era, Kid Norfolk and Harry Greb. It’s a shame Dempsey didn’t fight either of them, would have told us a lot on where he stood in this regard. Obviously Jack is a great talent but so many unanswered questions
I don't .. people are looking past the fact that prime Dempsey was exceptionally fast of hand and foot to go with his power , iron chin and killer instinct .. the Dempsey that fought Tunney and Sharkey had lost the same proportion of hand and leg speed as a post exile Ali yet he still not only almost stopped Tunney but fought very competitively in most of their two bouts .. yes Tunney won the rounds but when you look at there footage slow and carefully Jack made him work hard and often missed by tiny fractions .. I say prime for prime he beats Tunney , Charles too .. Moore's vulnerability was speed which is why Patterson took him out so easily and Dempsey was too fast and strong .. that said of course the men stated and others would and could be competitive .. in fairness they are more appropriate opponents than guys 210 plus would be .. size at the highest levels matters ...
Greb's sparring session with Dempsey suggested that he could hang with Dempsey successfully for a couple of rounds at least. I have no idea if that would have been the case in a full length fight
