I lean toward Jersey Joe, the more skilled, sneaky, crafty puncher.
As for power, there's not lot between em. Imo.

 

I think Ingo had more demonstrated power. With Joe you see it in flashes but you also see fights where he landed those shots to no real effect. He was a cutey and he had pop but I don’t think of him as some major puncher.

On the other hand, Ingo wasn’t the only one who ever put Patterson sideways either.

 

Walcott was more sneaky, Ingo more powerful.

Ingo was a 1trick pony. If you could adjust to his surprise right hand bazooka strategy he didn't have a lot left to fall back on. Walcott was a tricky guy with tricky feet and could surprise you with both hands.

 

Walcott was more skilled and far more athletic with his Brilliant footwork, unpredictable fast & fluid movement, and beautiful feints.

Both were sneaky. Walcott tricked people into his "waltz." Johansson lulled people into boredom then exploded.

Power? Both could knock world class men down with 1 shot. Walcott put Louis on the floor 3 times, put Charles out cold with 1 shot, put marciano on the floor, put Bivins on the floor with 1 right hand, put harold johnson on the floor with 1 shot.

Finishing ability? Huge edge to Johansson, who went after his opponent like a torpedo when they were hurt and he usually finished them off early. Walcott was not a great finisher, guys got up and he coasted usually going the distance with them.

 

Walcott was twice the fighter Ingo was he had two fisted power and knew how to feint and lure you into it.
Ingo was a basic upright Euro style fighter, paw with the jab as a range finder for his right cross.No left hook to speak of ,nothing special at all imo.

 

We disagree I think Ingo was a sloppy finisher.He threw everything but the referee at Machen and was hitting Patterson in the back of the head and the side of the throat. wild and inaccurate he reminds me of Wilder.

Walcott was a 49 something Journeyman. Ingo is the greatest fighter of all times. They are not the same.

 

I doubt Ingo was as strong as Walcott.

 

I think Walcott was more skilled and versatile but what Ingo had in spades was power and more importantly timing with his right hand. He threw his right at the perfect distance either countering or attacking at the right time. I think he was a guy that wasn't flashy but fought to his strengths. Joe on the other hand, could be too cute for his own good at times.

Many years later. Koysta Tzysu deployed his straight right hand in a similar manner.

I would have to say Jersey Joe Walcott, he was shifty and could change angles. Ingo did have the dreaded Bingo in his right hand, but would if he tags Walcott with it? And nothing happens. Walcott's stamina and boxing ability has been proven, he could hit, he floored Rocky Marciano in their first fight on Sept 23 1952 before getting kayoed in round 13.
