Hrgovic was a top am who medaled and Coetzer was a top nothing. His ranking might be a little questionable but there's no question at all that he'd demolish Coetzer.

The others mentioned require minimal explanation since they're guys in their prime years who have thoroughly surpassed Coetzer's resume.

No. He’d still have to be above Helenius, Dychko, Efe, Bakole, Wallin, Dubois, Hunter, Gassiev, Kabayal and others who would most likely beat him but aren’t ranked in the top ten. Therefore, he’d be extremely fortunate to get in there.

Kownacki is not in the top ten and was possibly the worst guy to crack the top ten in the last decade, so he’s an exception.

Is it still possible to access Ring's annual ratings in the "new" BoxRec?

So you're saying it would take a special set of circumstances for him to crack the top ten whereas I'm saying every guy in the top ten and some of the guys outside of the top ten are better than him. These are similar views.

Yes. He’d be hanging around in the top 10 for a while even though probably wouldn’t win a belt

Even Kownacki beat Szpilka, Charles Martin, and an Arreola would was comfortable throwing 1k punches. Not sure Coetzer would beat them all and add another 15-20 wins without a loss.

Joyce is 37 year old with 14 fight only. has no fight in past year. 0 fights. best ever win for Joyce is British title level only good prospect Dubois & a couple of overall 2nd rate Jenning & Takam.

Ruiz "prime years. ' " is get knock downed and struggle with 40 year old Areola? this pathetic. his only fight in 2 years. before this about 286 pound. Worse ever effort in AJ rematch. prime years LOL. his win now with AJ is over 3 year ago. it is pathetic prime years! lol
prime years in burger buffet Taco restaurant? prime years in social media? but only 1 fight in 2 year. shook by Areola very bad.

you like inactive fighter with amateur trophy.
    Ok that is for you.
that is not for me . not
    good rating criteria.

Coetzer was nothing good special but: fights often wins with ordinary gatekeep journeyman type = better than 0 fight or living off win or title of 3 or 5 years ago

but yes you have different opinion.

Coetzer arriving at Bowe fight has okay record. enough to get rate today. I believe

I think that you have a massively inflated view of today's top 10

I think you have a massively inflated view or South African fighters. I wonder why that could be.

You just read names off his record on boxrec and pretended they were good.

    I did not.
I did said they were not of much good. I remember the boxers .
they are journeyman gatekeeper nothing special tune up boxers. That is all
    & I seen the fights

but it is better to fight this level & win than no fight. better to fight 17 tune up in 4 year winning run than maybe 1 fight in year & half or struggle with Junior Fa & old Arreola

Coetzer was not top fighter in the era. he was limited with weak opposition record. but did enough to get rated today. I am not sure what is difficult for you to understand in this.

 The top 10 today are 3-4 guys at the top that would probably do well in any era. The rest are ancient, obese, slow as sloths or glass jawed goons that get knocked out by a stiff breeze. How old is Ortiz? They better prod him to make sure he hasn't actually mummified. There's more filler in a pingpong ball than the heavyweight division right now.

Coetzer would never be mistaken for a great fighter. But he was 6'4, tough as nails and game as they come. Moreover he had a good engine and you could see he was ripped. He makes a lot of the guys in the top ten right now look like they are in slow motion. Some of them, like Joyce, really are.

So basically he was like Duhaupas.

BTW Coetzer is best remembered for losing to an old guy so idk why you bring up Ortiz’s age.
