If they really called it a final eliminator, he would be right and the WBA would be in the wrong.
Despite his level, he then should be the contender. He wouldn't even be the worst WBA mando ever.

I see another Oquendo situation coming here.

No one in the WBA ranks deserves a ****ing shot man. What has Wilder done in the WBA? His only success has been WBC.

The reality is WBA needs to get rid of the 500 belts it hands out, just have one belt for the champ, and have some actual mandatory challenges.

I fail to see what Helenius has done to deserve a mandatory shot.

He should at least have to fight Dubois.

Doesn't matter really, either Dubois or Helenius would get ****ing annihilated vs Usyk.

I understand your sentiment, but you have to look at it from Helenius' perspective.
Did John Ruiz deserve to be the WBA mandatory in his last fight? Did Oquendo? Did Charr? No, neither of them did.
    But they were anyway.
He isn't going to give up his spot or fight someone he knows he's going to get decimated by, just because he thinks/knows he actually doesn't deserve the shot.

It's the WBA that's in the wrong here. Their insane rankings and belts over the last couple of decades are to blame for this.
Helenius just tries to get the most out of an opportunity presented to him.

They didn't deserve it, but neither does helenius.

Helenius is basically looking for one last cash grab before retirement, and Wilder is the 2nd best chance of that happening after a fight with Joshua or Usyk.

I suppose he's simply suing because he may have nothing to lose.

It's kind of annoying though because this could cause further delays to potentially good fights.

If I was helenius, I would maybe demand an eliminator vs Dubois and winner fights Usyk/Joshua.

But you're not a 38 year old pro boxer in the twilight of their career... So quit crying and go eat a steak.

Helenius has nothing to offer, he lost to Duhaupas and Washington, he was also given a win against Chisora, he doesn't deserve a chance, he should only fight for money and nothing more, Wilder will finish him anyway if the fight happens...

The most WBA solution would be to create a new type of "World Champion" and fight for the vacant one of that.

Maybe he can fight Fres Oquendo

If AJ beats Usyk he should really give him an immediate rematch. Usyk has to win his semifinal twice to progress to the final whereas AJ only has to win once.

Fact is Usyk and Fury won their semifinals conclusively in their opponent's backyards where everything was stacked against them.

Hell, Fury had to fight The Dosser x 3 in his backyard, including administering two baptisms to him, to wriggle free from his nefarious embrace even though he should be 3-0 against him.

They wanted to rob Usyk in the first fight but he made it extremely difficult for them to do so. But they're going to be even more desperate to rob him in this one given how big a Fury vs AJ fight will be and obviously AJ has just signed a huge deal with DAZN too.

But no one wants to see a fight between the winner and Viking Bob.

I definitely don't want to see it, but legally speaking Helenius probably has a case. The Kownacki fight was a final eliminator. Putting myself into the shoes of an older fighter experiencing a bit of a resurgence, I would do everything within my powers to crystallize a shot at the world titles. Helenius has never challenged for the belts, has experienced lots of ups and downs(injuries, promotional issues, unexpected losses) this is his last chance to do so. As fan I hope the Wilder fight happens in the fall, but I certainly understand where Helenius is coming from.

I don't begrudge him at all for wanting it, and the WBA are a complete joke, but no one actually wants to see it. He should definitely fight the Dosser and to be perfectly honest, if Fury can bounce said Dosser off the canvas like a yo-yo, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Viking Bob sparked him out cold if he landed that big right hand of his.

    This concerns me.

There is simply too much money involved to allow the Usyk fight to be even remotely fair. I envision a Joshua VS Parker situation coming where Usyk begins to work and the ref interferes alongside the three blind mice judging ringside who will give AJ the first four rounds before the fight even begins.

    Hope Usyk sparks him.

if there was any logic to the WBA, and there isn't, surely Dubois as regular champion would be mandatory.

But that would imply WBA are run as a serious sporting organisation rather than an outfit trying to get as much cash from fighters as they can.

Agreed, making millions fighting for the title is better than fighting Wilder for probably less money. Either fight though has exit marked over the doorway in my less than humble opinion
