He should but don't bet on it. The purse will be ever so tempting so would not be surprised to see eubank agree to this.

A cruel rehydration clause is the only way this fight becomes remotely close, and even then I think young Chris should still have enough energy to batter him.

Greed is rampant in boxing always has been, but now it feels more blatant than ever.

This doesn't fall under the banner of corruption, but it paints the sport in a very bad light as it shows governing bodies and promoters make things up as they go along and despite all the talk from Hearn there is actually little regard for a fighters safety- when the money becomes big enough.

Eubank Jnr held his own at 168 for years, even against big men like Groves. Groves, Abraham, Yildirim are massive compared to tiny little Conor Benn! Benn himself should have started his career out at 140 but that's another topic.

At 33 going down in weight a second time to 156 is a very bad idea physically as the weight drain will be brutal. After that, then signing a additional rehydration clause, which limits you further is then not just a bad idea- it's unsafe and ridiculous. In that case Eubank walks into the ring with a unfair and dangerous handicap. The 24 hours after weight in are crucial as that is when you recover from the weeks of dieting. If you can't do that, and then have to go into a fight without that recovery process when your down close to 2 weight classes already it should not be happening.

I hope Eubank Jnr. has some good people around him to advise him.

He does not need to take risks like this for money- he is a rich man already, and post boxing will have plenty of commercial options too.

Personalities aside this match up doesn’t make boxing sense , OK I realise that it’s a saleable fight but let’s consider the match Conor Benn a welterweight who has not proved himself at domestic level whilst Chris Eubank Jnr a Middleweight who has also successful campaigned at Super Middle and has won a domestic title at Middleweight and an IBO world title at Super Middle . I doubt that many trainers in the world would consider those basic considerations and be happy! I would like to think that the BBBoC would have reservations about sanctioning this bout . When boxers have previously stepped up weight classes they have in the main had proven boxing skills I am thinking Ray Leonard , Mayweather, RJJ etc Conor Benn is no where near that level so I doubt he can outbox Jnr so he will have to outslug a bigger man ? Not much of a plan unless you can strip Eubanks down till he can’t stand …I understand that money talks .

Eubank should just take the fine for the rehydration clause, ignore it, come in and batter baby Benn.

Heard from my postie this afternoon that this one ISN'T done. Apparently young CHRIS signed and returned a contract to fight at 156, (unsigned by BENNE) then BENNE or his promoter sent another contract with a rehydration clause and huge fines for lbs over.

he didn't go into the numbers but sounds like hearns junior is up to his old tricks again and BENNE will end up fighting another no mark whilst CHRIS chases the canelo GGG winner

This is exactly what will happen imo.

If what I'm hearing is true and there will be a pot of around £10m between them then Eubank losing part of this for coming in over the weight limit agreed is perfectly affordable on his part.

Looked it up it was a response to Paul voicing his opinion - don't see young Chris hitting up the tattoo parlor anytime soon

Not if the penalty is as heavy as the tweets lead to believe.

    Excellent reply.

Promoters have never taken into account the health of the boxers. They only take one thing into account : to make as much money for themselves as possible. The health of the boxers comes second.

If this is DAZN PPV it makes an absolute mockery of the ‘PPV for mega fights only’ never mind the PPV is dead

Maybe Eddie "PPV is killing the sport of boxing" Hearn has changed his mind :)
