No, Spinks deserves credit for those two fights. The more motivated Holmes of the second fight was in all likelihood one of the very best HWs, maybe the best, around at that point and Spinks still came back to get the better of the last 10.

You feel Spinks won the 14th round? No disrespect, but really?

I wrote "get the better of", not that he won them all.

I had Spinks pretty clearly in the first. It's the worst I've seen Holmes look, i think. He took Spinks lightly and was a step behind most of the fight against a quick smaller guy with loads of ingenuity.

I thought Larry won the second by a couple. You could have it a little closer or a little wider. I don't think it was a robbery but the vast majority didn't agree with the decision.

One mag did an entire article as to why Spinks won. Eddie Futch said Spinks won both etc. So it doesn't quite reach robbery status for mine.

Strange days for me, i cheered Spinks all the way in the first as I'd grown tired of Holmes taking the softer touches yet in the rematch i cheered as hard for Holmes as i ever cheered. I think i came to realise we were at the end of a great fighters career, one who'd factored majorly in my childhood and teen days as a follower.
