if we pretend Parker coming in with the Hughie Fury and Razdan Cojanu fights is impressive world champion boxer. this can be a start to pretend AJ is not **** resume & we can attempt pretend Andy Ruiz Jr is not fat slob also and this helps to make the AJ resume good. yes.
Parker is underrated because he lost to Whyte. He took that fight on 8 weeks notice and the referee should have stopped the fight in the final round if I remember correctly.
Fury's resume - Wlad - Was this version of wlad better than the one that fought Joshua? Probably not, it was a past prime wlad, and Fury ducked the rematch. There was probably little difference. Wilder - No evidence to suggest he's better than the likes of Parker, Ruiz, Povetkin level opponent. Whyte.... Wilder resume - Ortiz, Stiverne, Washignton, Brezeale... need I say more? All chisora level quality opponents besides Ortiz who's quality is questionable. Besides Usyk, Joshua's resume is still arguably the best.
Your point on Klitschko is shaky. Joshua’s win over WK was more entertaining and in its own right a great win, but once again he had home advantage and it’s ludicrous to suggest WK would be equal to one 18 months younger.
Not remotely as it's far deeper than Fury's or Wilders... It's the best in the division at this moment in time.
How the **** do you know? Wlad performed much better than he did against Fury. You can argue it's because of the opposition, but WK stated what he did wrong vs Fury the first time, and that he was going to correct it in the rematch that Fury ducked. Wlad wasn't your average shmo, he trains and spars even after retirement. So no, I do not consider Fury's win over Wlad MUCH better than Joshua's win, so much so that it makes his resume that much more superior. Wlad was well past his best vs Fury and Joshua, and was still in immense shape for the AJ fight. I don't think the difference between 39 year old wlad and 41 year old wlad 18 months later was massive, I see no significant difference, just the assumption that 18 months made that much of a difference.
Fury’s win is obviously better when you consider the full context and only a casual would say otherwise. Joshua’s win is good in its own right though.
I agree Fury's win is better because of how dominant he was, but when we're talking about resumes and quality of opponents, my argument is against people claiming that the Wlad Fury fought was much superior than the Wlad Joshua fought. That's the point. Not that Joshua did as well as Fury, but that the Wlad they both fought was massively different. In reality you could argue AJ fought a better Wlad who had nothing to lose and let everything go, which is what he would have done in the rematch with Fury if he hadn't have backed out of the rematch. Fury caught Wlad totally off guard, as well as everyone else, because Fury had never fought close to that level before. It was arguably Fury's best performance of his career besides maybe Wilder 2. I see no evidence that the Wlad Fury fought was better than the Wlad AJ fought. 41 year old Wlad was still a monster. He also proved how much his chin has improved with all his conditioning. He took some nasty shots vs Joshua that would have destroyed many of the fighters around, and Wlad survived until it got waived off.
His resume is GOOD keeping in context the guys in the division. Naturally it lacks Wilder and Fury. Also it isnt very impressive if you really look at it keeping in context the quality of guys he fought but you can only fight what you have in front of you.
No, he did beat Parker who was young top ten contender in a fight where both fighters sort of disengaged. But he sure has plenty of wins over OLD men, and in the case of Ruiz that he beat very fat man. What left is wins over Whyte who was young but not skilled. Your're right a case can made that he didn't beat very good in shape and prime fighters like Usyk, But then again the list of top heavyweight is thin these days. Truthfully his resume of win is a little better than Fury's who also fought old men, nobodies ,and was knocked down by Wilder 4 times. Welcome to the heavyweight division in 2022.
After 41 inactive dethroned Wlad and 39 Povetkin can we really say that any of them were above the level of a prime Chisora? The first time AJ fought without such a heavily stacked deck he got brutalised and quit against a 25-1 fringe contender. If Wilder had beaten lowly regarded PBC new signing Ruiz he would have got no credit ("Ruiz is short and stubby, morbidly obese, featherfisted, a late sub, struggled with washed up Liakhovich and Kevin, Parker already beat him" etc.) and if Wilder had LOST to Ruiz, let alone QUIT, he would have been written off immediately as the biggest HYPEJOB in boxing history. Breazeale is Wilder's 8th best win (which partially explains why Wilder obliterated him in 1 round) just as he is AJ's. Considering how stacked the deck was for AJ few of his opponents were dangerous. Wilder's wins over big punchers Ortiz x2 and Stiverne 1 would all fall into a combined top 5 wins of Wilder and AJ.
