This seems like an awful lot of diversionary talking points to me. Would Calzaghe have beaten that Kovalev? Asking for a friend.

You have to have incredibly poor understanding of boxing to assume that's trolling, so I hope you're just trying to be insulting and you don't really believe what you're saying.

Kovalev would steamroll Hoe Cal-slappy with ease. Straight up savagely KO that drug addled sneering creep.

The Eubank that Calzaghe beat was a shadow of his prime.
Since the Watson fight Eubank held back and lost his spite

Sure looks like Eubank wasn't trying to take Calzaghe's head off here, right?

Yeah, Ward retired at just 33 due to his poor widdle body not being able to withstand the rigors of the sport.

Calzaghe's hands ie. the tools of his trade were a mess long before he even turned pro and they were in a terrible state towards the end of his career and he was extremely injury prone. As you know, he was a big puncher even in the amateurs something Ward never was.

    Timestamped

    A 19 y/0 Calzaghe

''I just hope my hands get better so I can continue with my career and turn pro and be good at it''

Calzaghe, before his hands turned to mush, and like I said, his hand problems plagued him from his teens and nearly ended his career before it even began, stopped all but one of his opponents on route to winning his second and third ABA titles, both at different weights and both in his first year fighting at those weights, with only two of his opponents making it out of the 2nd round and his victims included 2 future world champions and a future European champion so hardly scrubs and stoppages in amateur boxing are obviously much rarer than in the pros.

who were these "scrubs" that you refer of?
Sure a fighter with so many world title fights will definitely have some easier fights and perhaps less deserving challengers but who exactly and what circumstance?
I ask because many (and I think you could well be one of them) didn't know the division too well before it was hyped up, but yet had some excellent SMWs who weren't too known outside of Europe and wouldn't have to have been known outside Europe as that was where the top SMWs were from at that time, so give me a rundown of who you are referring too as I notice you keep trying to change your point and then try and debate a new argument when you haven't answered the previous points

Whilst it could be true or false that Eubank held back after the Watson fight, your argument still falls very short as the Watson fight you refer to is Eubanks winning of the SMW title and first fight at the weight, from there at SMW he fought the WBC champ at the weight, the undefeated relinquished IBF champ at the weight and several other top rated SMWs without losing in 14 defences of the title

Eubank looked rather good and still in possession of all his skills and physical attributes against the much heavier murderous punching Carl Thompson after losing to Calzaghe whom he also looked good against, as evidenced by the video I posted, didn't look like he was holding back at all when he was trying to take Calzaghe's head off. And he didn't look weight drained considering the crazy pace Calzaghe set from first to last bell.

Thing is Eubank had but no choice than to try and take Calzaghe's head off and prove he was in very good shape because Calzaghe sets a pace like no other and he fought like a man possessed that night and Eubank had to fight like hell just to keep him off of him in order to not get overwhelmed, and that was a much harder punching Calzaghe back then and Eubank himself will tell you about how hard he hit him.

Eubank only lost to Thompson because of the eye injury, which still hadn't healed properly going into the second fight.
