He’s without a doubt Elite and and ATG but he has a lot of question marks around him and he certainly ducked the best competition for years trying to wait them out.
Floyd was definitely the best of his time, and I can see him ranked somewhere between 20-30 ATG, he was absolutely amazing.
But made sure he never had to face Antonio The Tijuana Tornado Margarito. Floyd was scared stiff of Antonio as we all saw
And Amir Khan Floyds biggest problem was his glass hands meant he really couldn't deter people who happily get punched in the face like Margarito.
Floyd Mayweather was a mediocre boxer who cautiously cherry-picked his way to fame and riches. He was ultra-cautious in the way he managed his later career. He avoided prime good fighters, he waited until Pacquiao was KOed by Marquez, he waited until Cotto had been badly beaten and stopped a couple of times, and he waited until Mosley was age 40. He was a weight bully in his early career, a natural welterweight who fought blown-up bantamweights and featherweights. He had smaller fighters like Hatton, Guerrero and Marquez move up to welterweight to fight him. And even then, he had dodgy referees like Joe Cortez to help out when needed. He took no risks in the ring, taking faded boxers like Guerrero and Berto all 12 rounds for dull decision wins. No other boxer without world-class talent ever earned nearly so much money and fame as Floyd Mayweather.
Couple of fake retirement comments in here, hold Tyson Fury to the same standard then. Mayweather Jr is without a doubt one of the elites of all time. Easy to put him in the top 3
He was brilliant I don't get how people can say things like Floyd cherry picked. That is rubbish He beat G Hernandez to win a SFW title and whilst SFW champ fought several of the top fighters in the division including the next top opponent in Corrales At LW he fought the top man twice At LWW he may not have fought Hatton there when passing through but did fight him at WW At WW he fought the champ in Baldomir, but let's not forget his first defense was against the excellent Judah He fought De La Hoya at LMW I think Cotto was the top LMW when he fought him He was incredibly good
Mediocre ? This is just ridiculous. He did some cherrypicking and had the cards stacked in his favor a lot but make no mistake it doesn’t change that was an elite fighter and has an ATG resume
