Assuming you mean Nasseem, I’d say he’s somewhere in the 25-30 range at featherweight. I have a hard time rating him higher than Winstone, Famechon, Legra, guys who rarely feature in top 20’s and I don’t think he can realistically rate higher than Jofre or Olivares at the weight despite them being more known for their bantam body of work. Now that I think about it, perhaps Hamed closer to outside the top 30.
I blame him for invigorating the concept of horrible, overblown, who cares ring walks which proliferate today's boxing landscape. Other than that, he was a talented fighter with bad technique and fantastic power. I think he was overrated while he was fighting and underrated now. He was champ for more than five years and knocked out a bevy of good fighters during his reign. His loss to Barrera is by no means shameful but it would have been nice to see how he responded to his first defeat. Instead he fought once, more than a year later, and retired. I've always though his ego and self-belief was shattered by the loss. I have him ranked right around #15 as a 126 pounder.
The Ingle style plays like a hot mess to watch chin in the air, flush head shots being taken. I don’t know about rating him but the way he fought was just ugly.
tough division to get double digit title defenses. The prince did up until that initial defeat. just how many guys had that many title defenses? He was a brutal puncher. 2 hands even. And a completely different style that lots of folks did not like. But he put butts in the seats and was always exciting. A unique talent. try thinking about other featherweights using that defense and hand placement--how would they do? They making double digit defenses?
Much as i hated him there is no denying he was a very good fighter. One of the hardest punchers at the weight i would rank him anywhere from 11 to 20
Couldn’t stand him would have him about 15 to 20 though. Couldn’t stand the style too many bad habits the only thing special about him was his power, which really was scary. To be fair he would he would need to be taken seriously by any featherweight ever.
Haha! I understand fully mate…he was an irritating little oik. But I kinda liked him, he was entertaining. But boy, he didn’t half take some risks with his dancing, posturing, chin out style!
Agree it would be a good fight while it lasted but i differ about the outcome. Naz would knock him out of that i an sure
I actually had him just outside the top 20. This surprised me because my feel was that he'd be lower than that. But Naseem did some good work and a lot of business in the divisional top five. It's one of the weirdest foibles of ranking fighters that I have him above Barrera
