Probably been done before but what the hell! It would be a great bout in my opinion. My money would be on Eusebio scoring a clear verdict on the cards after weathering a few early storms from Alexis.
Pedroza gives Arguello a lot of trouble early on until Arguello adjusts to Pedroza's tactics and mounts a furious attack with hard accurate shots. Arguello has the power to slow down Pedroza's offense and stop him late. Both Pedroza and Arguello are great 15 round fighters but Arguello's firepower and accuracy will be the difference.
Close fight. I don't think Arguello peaked at 126 and his slickness would give Arguello problems. He's comfortable at any range and he's difficult to get into a rhythm against which is damn important if you are going to step into a ring with Arguello. Pedroza filled out beautifully into 126 and took a fine punch there. He is also a long range specialist which again is very important in this one. Close fight for mine. Can Arguello's power make the difference?
I think Eusebio could take Alexis' power though he'd have to really suck it up on occasion. Even a faded Pedroza was still standing after fifteen rounds of attrition from Barry McGuigan,and Barry was on fire that night.
I actually see AA either beating him on points or stopping him in the latter rounds. But what a war this could potentially be!!
This could be an upset loss for Arguello. See the Arguello vs Vilimar Fernandez fight for reference. Pedroza was a better all around fighter than Fernandez, he also had a real mean streak, with no compunction about getting in the mud against an opponent. The difference in foot speed between Arguello and Pedroza would be key. Though I slightly lean towards Arguello, my thinking is he gets off just enough body work to slow Pedroza going into the championship rds , wins a razor thin dec. But I wouldn't by shocked at all if Pedroza's quick feet and hands, his movement, ability to go a fast paced 15rd fight, and mental toughness carried him to victory. This fight would be that close by those two ATG's . Probably boils down to whomever is having a better day.
I've kinda gone back and forth on this fight but I think your point about how difficult it is to get into a rhythm against Pedroza is a solid. I think he'd have Alexis out of sorts and take a close decision. But not confidently enough to wager a large sum
Arguello stoppage I saw Pedroza get wobbled serveral times at 126 lbs. and none of those opponents punched as hard as Arguello. Sure Pedroza will be a tough nut for Arguello to crack but the vast difference in punching power and the ability to take a punch will be the difference in this fight.
Pedroza by close unanimous decision, it would be a war, but Pedroza had more than enough to deal with Alexis.
I like Arguello by UD. Like mentioned earlier, his power would be a deciding factor (and his beautiful boxing, of course). As far as Eusebio's ability to take fighters out of their rhythm, that would trouble Alexis very much. Sal Sanchez beats Pedroza much more easily, I believe, largely because of his incredible rhythm, which was near unbreakable.
It has Stevie G. The one thing that would have been concerning is Alexis Arguello's propensity to have trouble with boxers who have movement, an example being the non title bout against Vilomar Fernandez, who defeated Arguello on points with lateral movement. Also Pedroza's dirty flagrant fouling. Eusebio has been kayoed before back in 1977 against Alfonso Zamora. Alexis would have to fight a very focused bout, using constant pressure to score a stoppage. But for sure an entertaining fight.
