Women getting their own show at the moment wont necessarily benefit them The reality is if they're on this undercard they're likely to get - - More exposure - Bigger stage - More money (This fight probably wont be even PPV) They'd benefit a lot more on their own. But I suppose I understand your point about it being a test run to decide if anyone gives a crap.

For me, there's no long term outlook for boxing, just the fast cash grab. The casual audience, the "Sweet Caroline" is fine, but where's the appetite to build for future champions? Boxing is a more niche sport than ever, because it's effectively unavailable to the masses, unlike the halcyon days of Dickie Davies et al. I appreciate it's a different time, to the readily available viewings I saw as a kid (Ali, SRL etc etc), and I'd never begrudge a pro fighter his purse, but I wonder if there's any real appetite for long term growth?
No you're right, I hate that song as well, what I meant was, it's fine in that casual fans turn up, buy a ticket, and the fighters get paid, that was the context I was going for!
The sport is doing fine. There are still tons of small hall events attracting plenty of spectators watching up and coming hungry fighters. It goes in cycles, we got to enjoy the golden age of British boxing not that long ago.
