Is this a photo of the Marciano Walcott knockout blow? (not that it really matters...)

Boxrec claims that this is a photo of the knockout blow in the first Marciano vs Walcott fight:

But, having compared it with the footage of the fight, I'm not sure it is.

    Any thoughts?

P.S. Like I said, not that it really matters.

That's not the one we usually see.
EDIT- That's it. I'm used to seeing the close up.

If it isn't the knockout blow then it's very, very similar but, when I freeze frame the footage, it appears to me as though Walcott's left arm is further forward compared to the photo.

I suppose that could be down to camera angles and lenses.

It probably is the knockout blow, I'm just not 100% convinced.

The example you've given of what some claim to be the knockout blow certainly isn't the knockout punch.

When compared to the footage, Walcott is too far away from the ropes, his arms are in a different position, the angle of Marciano's punch is different and the referee is standing in a different position in relation to the fighters.

I'm 95% certain that the boxrec photo I posted is the KO itself - the similarities are very strong compared to the film footage.

The first one is. The one djanders shows is not.

That’s the one (that you linked from Boxrec) that I’ve always accepted as the KO punch. Next time I have a look I’ll check out what you observed re Walcott’s left arm.

What about the quality of the photo though? One of, if not the, best captures of the nano sec after a KO punch. There’s quite a few photos of Marciano badly distorting and rubberising his opponent’s faces.

Here’s some very clear vision of the KO slowed down.

I froze it at 9 secs and it matches up very well to the Boxrec still photo that you linked.

My first thought was no, but having watched the footage and paused at the exact point the punch connects, I think it could be. It’s captured just before the point that Walcott slumps. My memory said that he slumped immediately on contact with the punch but there is a fraction of a pause before it happens which means this photo seems to match that point of connection. Interesting.

Walcott is much closer to the ropes in the photo in question here as opposed to the famous one we usually see.. They look different to me.

I thought the famous one we usually see was debunked on the forum over a decade ago? I definitely remember the standard post as being yeah but that was never the actual KO blow.

I reckon this pic is probably correct. Remember Walcott's right actually lands after Rocky's KO punch and in the pic the position of his right leg and arm looks to match up with that right hook Walcott threw.

    Quoting myself, how arrogant. LOL.

The photo initially linked from Boxrec was definitely taken just after the KO shot landed.
